Wooing My Ex-Wife

Chapter 845 The Boss Is Being Weird Today

Chapter 845 The Boss Is Being Weird Today

The luxury car drove out of the Newton Group, Whitney, in a good mood, couldn’t help but hum a song. However, she dared not sing too loudly for fear of Charles’ ridicule.

Every now and then, she would steal a glance at Charles, taking in his stern, cold features.

Noticing the gaze of the lady next to him, Charles deliberately met her eyes and teased, “What’s the matter? Has your husband’s handsomeness left you dazed?”

Upon hearing his joke, Whitney’s cheeks instantly turned red. She huffed lightly and muttered under her breath. “W-who goes around saying they’re handsome?)

Charles disagreed and said, “It’s called confidence.”

Whitney turned her head away, no longer speaking.

At night, after taking a bath, Whitney sat by the window, enjoying the breeze.

She closed her eyes in enjoyment, relishing the comforting feeling of the gentle breeze caressing her face.

When Charles came out of the bathroom, he saw her leisurely swinging her legs by the window, looking quite content.

However, the evening breeze was still quite chilly. She might catch a cold if she didn’t put on more layers.

Charles brought over a small blanket and threw it over her. His words, however, were far from caring. “If you catch a cold, I’m docking your pay.”

“Achoo!”

Whitney sneezed before turning around to glare at him. She raised her little fists and protested, “Even if you’re the boss, you shouldn’t bully your employees like this, should you?”

The two of them bickered a while longer before heading to bed.

Bright and early the next morning, Charles was already working in the CEO’s office.

Today, he was once again dressed in a black suit, but what was different was the new color of the tie around his neck.

His thoughts wandered even as his gaze roamed over the documents before him.

He casually picked up the aromatherapy diffuser on his table. It was something Whitney had brought over one day, claiming his office looked too simple.

Suddenly, someone knocked on his door.

In an instant, Charles reined in his thoughts and quickly set down the incense. He reverted back to his usual stern demeanor and announced, “Come in.”

A man dressed in a deep blue suit walked in. It was Isaac, who handed over some documents to Charles.

In the past, Isaac always wore a black suit, but surprisingly, he changed his outfit today

Charles looked at him suspiciously and asked coldly, “What’s up? Got plans?”

Isaac scratched his head a bit sheepishly and said, “Well, I have to go out for dinner after work today.”

As soon as he finished speaking. Isaac quickly changed the topic. “Mr. Newton, do you remember the company you wanted to acquire last time? I have secured the best proposal for the company. Please review it, and if there are no issues, I will proceed with the arrangements.”

Charles had faith in Isaac’s abilities. After a quick skim through the document, he found no major issues. He then picked up his special metal pen and signed his name on it.

“All right, if you need anything, feel free to reach out to me.”

As usual, Isaac got ready to leave.

“Hold on, I have something to ask you.”

Hearing Charles call out to him, Isaac paused in his steps, turning around with surprise. Numerous company-related matters flashed through his mind.

He offered, “Mr. Newton, I don’t seem to have noticed any unexpected incidents at the company these past few days.”

Charles cleared his throat and said, “I wanted to ask… how do I look today?” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Isaac was slightly taken aback. What does Mr. Newton mean by this? Could it be a test?

“Mr. Newton, you are undoubtedly a paragon of virtue, handsome and wealthy, a top-tier authority in the elite class, and one of the most outstanding men in the country!”

Charles nodded thoughtfully then looked down at his outfit for the day. He asked, “So, how do I look today?”

What question is this?

Isaac was quite puzzled. A dozen questions flashed through his mind, but he still responded dutifully, “Mr Newton, you’ve changed your tie today, and you look even more handsome than usual!”

Thank goodness I noticed, or Mr. Newton would definitely dock my pay.

“Does my scent seem strange to you?”

Isaac was stunned. He hadn’t expected that his CEO, who used to pay no attention to his appearance, had suddenly started caring about how he looked.

He unleashed another wave of flattery. “Mr. Newton, your outfit is absolutely irresistible. If Mrs. Newton sees you, she will definitely fall head over heels in love with you!”

Upon hearing this, a smirk tugged at the corner of Charles’ mouth.

Isaac was astounded once again. He never expected that the stoic Charles would actually smile.

Under normal circumstances, he would have been bruised by the things Mr. Newton threw at him. Even if things did not progress to that extent, he would still face some form of punishment.

Yet surprisingly, after Isaac’s lengthy praises for Charles, there was no further reaction from his boss. Something is off: terribly off

In order to protect his meager salary, Isaac quickly said, “Mr. Newton, I’ll go get busy now. You rest. Call me if you need anything.”

Then, Isaac quickly slipped away with the signed documents in hand.

Charles stepped out of his office. Before he could reach Whitney’s workspace, he unintentionally overheard one of his assistants talking on the phone with his girlfriend.

“Honey, wait for me tonight. I’ll finish work early today. How about we go watch a movie when I get back? And maybe have your favorite stew?”,

The voice on the other end of the phone was loud and shrill, saying, “You better remember our date. I’m warning you, if you make me miss the movie, you’re dead meat. You’ll be sleeping in the hallway

tonight, got it?”

Bowing to his girlfriend’s pressure, the assistant quickly replied, “Don’t worry! I’ll definitely make it before the movie starts. How could I forget about our date? Now, now, I need to get back to work. See you tonight.” He blew her a kiss before ending the call.

A date?

Charles stood there, lost in thought. Ever since he and Whitney got married, they had never once had a proper date.

Perhaps I could treat her to a date.

Listening to the sweet exchanges between his assistant and girlfriend, Charles surprisingly didn’t find it annoying for once. On the contrary, he even thought of learning a thing or two from his assistant.

After all, when it came to matters of his relationship with Whitney, he knew his ideas were not the most.

Once the assistant hung up the phone, Charles confidently walked over.

As the assistant turned around, he was startled to find the CEO standing next to him. He panicked and quickly greeted Charles, “Mr. Newton, w-why are you here? Do you have any tasks for me?”

“Do you have a date tonight?”

Upon hearing Charles’ words, the assistant became even more nervous. He nodded and replied, “Mr. Newton, I do have a date tonight. Do you have more work for me to arrange?”

Please, I beg you, don’t assign me any more work. I’m pleading with you.

Catching a glimpse of the anxiety and unease in his assistant’s eyes, Charles softened his tone and said, “I just wanted to ask you what you usually do on your dates.”

Charles coughed twice, masking the embarrassment on his face.

This…

The assistant paused for a second, then realized that Mr. Newton was actually seeking advice from him.

“Well, you’ve asked the right person about dating. Naturally, a date involves watching a movie, having a candlelit dinner, and doing things both parties enjoy. Also, girls tend to like flowers, so it would be best if you prepare a bouquet before the date.”
