Chapter 292
Matthew had said it was "just pounding with another woman".
Rachel was appalled that a decent person would say something like that. She clenched her teeth but held back, choosing to stay silent. She knew it was an unwise decision to talk to someone like him. Tracy looked Matthew up and down, as though she were meeting him for the first time.
Rachel was about to walk outside. However, after a few steps, she felt that since Matthew had solved the problem and saved her, it didn't seem right for her to leave like that.
After thinking it over, she finally spoke up. "Even though you're responsible for this mess, you stepped up when it mattered. I still need to thank you."
Matthew smiled and said, "There's no need for thanks between us."
Rachel frowned at his words. She said, "Matthew, we haven't known each other long, and I don't know you well. But considering what you did to Sara, I'm truly disappointed in you." Matthew couldn't take it anymore. He retorted, "Rachel, Sara was going to take my friend away and go after the Carters. Shouldn't I have stopped her?noveldrama
"Even if I had killed her, you shouldn't be defending her! Why are you acting like such a sanctimonious hypocrite?"
It was the first time anyone had ever said that to her. As the president of Wealthwave Group, she was well aware of the darker sides of the world and wasn't afraid to use certain methods. She never thought she would be called a sanctimonious hypocrite.
"Matthew, I'm not defending her, but you went too far," she replied.
Matthew fixed his gaze on Rachel, his expression showing a mix of emotions. "You are still defending her now, aren't you?" he said.
"What I can't stand most is sanctimonious hypocrites," he added. "I'm leaving. Goodbye, and I hope I never see you again."
With that, he turned and walked away.
He thought she was just throwing a small fit. As a man and her fiancé, he could tolerate and accept her, but he couldn't stand anyone who acted like a such a hypocrite.
As Rachel watched Matthew leave, she suddenly realized that this was a breakup. Her face went pale instantly.
Even though she knew Matthew had sex with Sara and was a jerk, seeing her first love walk away left her feeling weak, and her mind went blank.
She had the urge to call out and stop
him, but in the end, reason prevailed over emotion. As she watched Matthew walk away, she couldn't stand any longer, and her body
started to give out.
Seeing this, Tracy quickly supported her and asked, "What's wrong? Come, sit down. I'll get you a glass of water."
Rachel slowly sat down, her mind in turmoil. She asked, "Tracy, why does something feel off? Matthew doesn't seem like that kind of person, but he really did... My head hurts, and my heart's a mess."
Tracy handed her a glass of water and asked, "Didn't you see it with your own eyes?" Rachel took a small sip and set the glass down. "I didn't see it myself, but I heard it."
Tracy fell silent when Rachel mentioned that she had heard it. She had also heard it while lying in the backseat of the car, listening to Matthew and Rachel in the front. That feeling was pure torment.
She had never expected Rachel to experience the same thing. Rachel was indeed her best friend, as they had gone through the same experience.
Seeing that Tracy wasn't responding, Rachel spoke again. "Do you think I might have wronged him? Now that he's gone, I feel so empty inside." Tracy looked closely at Rachel, trying to gauge her feelings.
She said, "You... you really have fallen for him. You're actually reluctant to let go of a jerk like him. To help you completely forget about him, you can watch the video of him pounding Sara.
"Seeing it might help you move past any lingering feelings."
