The Ex-Husband's Revenge

Chapter 3179

At the Hundred Nations Gods of War Alliance's temporary headquarters, Eugene IV and more than a hundred War Gods from various countries were giving Nathan a grand welcome upon his return. Amidst the crowd, Wolfric naturally stood in the center due to his position as commander-in-chief.

However, he wore a grim expression as he looked out toward the royal carriage that had emerged from afar. That was when his gaze quickly fell upon Nathan.

Together with him, tens of thousands of people filled the streets to celebrate Nathan's return. The men were shouting jubilantly while the women swooned in admiration.

The sight of Nathan being given a hero's welcome filled Wolfric with jealousy as he watched on with an insidious glint in his eyes.

It was obvious to everyone beside him that he was upset with how the crowd was hailing Nathan's return.

After all, he hadn't expected Nathan to defeat Raytor and return triumphantly.

Fortunately, those standing around him were either his subordinates or men from allied countries. Thus, the scowl on his face wasn't unexpected at all.

In fact, when Jetroina's God of War, Eiken, saw Wolfric's gloomy expression, he instantly knew what the latter's concerns were. Hence, he whispered, "Mr. Welz, I'm surprised that Nathan actually defeated Raytor and returned alive." Upon hearing those words, Wolfric glowered with greater intensity as he shot Eiken a silent glare.

The burning rage he was exuding didn't escape Eiken's notice.

The latter explained immediately, "Mr. Welz, please don't misunderstand. Now that you've lost your bet with Nathan and are required to hand over the commander-in-chief's position, we should think of a way to stop it." Eiken's concern was exactly what Wolfric was worried about.

As the tension on Wolfric's face eased slightly, he swept his gaze around and replied, "Since all of you know my concerns, do you have any plans to remedy it?" Flashing a cunning smile, Eiken

responded in a low voice, "Haha, I have one. Even though Nathan has won the bet between the two of you, you should refuse to step down from your position as

commander-in-chief. With all of us supporting you, there's nothing he can do about it."

Refuse to step down? Wouldn't I have to go back on my words?

Although Wolfric was usually a shameless Machiavellian, reneging on the bet was too despicable even for him.

He replied hesitantly, "Wouldn't doing so be too much?"Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

Eiken added matter-of-factly, "Um,

you can say that the bet has always been a joke and that you were just goading Nathan into defeating Raytor. Since it would be wrong for us to take it seriously, the idea of you reneging on your promise is irrelevant. Instead, he should appreciate what you have done and know better than to raise the matter again."

Wolfric's eyes lit up at the suggestion.

What a great idea! By claiming that the bet was just me provoking Nathan into action, I'm not under any obligation to honor it. Moreover, Nathan should be grateful to me for giving him the impetus to kill Raytor! Not only can I keep my position, but Nathan also has to thank me. I like this plan.

The scowl on Wolfric's face was finally replaced with a satisfied smile. "Mr. Azuma, I like this proposal of yours."

Eiken replied humbly, "It's not much

of a proposal. I was just laying dut

the situation. Instead, I'm in awe of E your strategic genius."

As for the rest of Ariarica's allies, they, too, followed suit when they saw how Eiken was ingratiating himself with Wolfric.

If Nathan insisted that Wolfric should

hand over his position, they would threaten to withdraw from the

Hundred Nations Gods of War Alliance.

The smug expression on Wolfric's face deepened as he replied, "Good, good. I appreciate what all of you are doing."
