Why Are You Doing This?
It was already 8:00 pm, and the night fell at my main branch of Tinatangi. Many people ordered flowers today, so my time passed somewhat without Rozzean coming to my mind.
Truth be told, for the past two days, even though I wasn’t in his house, he never left my thoughts. But due to the busyness earlier with the consecutive orders, my attention was somewhat diverted.
I miss him so much, and I want to see him, but I have to endure for now.
“Ma’am, there’s a bouquet that hasn’t been delivered yet.”
I turned to Alma. She was looking at the bouquet of red roses on the side. I remembered about it. Luther gave it to me, something I didn’t expect to happen.
“Oh, a customer gave it to me. He’s the one who messaged you that I would arrange it personally.”
“Ayie, Ma’am, have you changed your perspective on life? Are you interested in men now?” Alma asked me.
I just smiled at her. They know I haven’t had a significant other yet. My employees here at the main branch often hear my complains whenever my Dad nags me about getting into a relationship.
“Yes…” I replied, and suddenly, Rozzean came to my mind.
When I glanced at the clock again, I grabbed the bouquet of flowers and my bag.
“I’ll head home first, Alma. Are you okay alone here?” I asked.
She was also tidying up the things we used earlier.
“Yes, Ma’am Tangi. Go ahead, I know you must be tired. I’ll take care of things here.”
When I heard her, I headed towards the exit of Tinatangi. I didn’t bring my car, so I planned to wait for a taxi.
But as soon as I stepped out, a black car greeted me, and Luther was leaning against it, looking into the distance.
What is he doing here?
“Luther.”
He straightened up when he saw me.
“What are you doing here in front of my shop? Are you waiting for someone?”
“I was waiting for you. Heading home?”
I don’t know what this is, but why is he here again? Earlier, he gave me flowers, and now he’s here asking if I’m heading home.
“I am. Just waiting for a taxi.”
“I will take you home, Thaliana.”
He opened the door of his car. I looked at it. I’m confused about his actions. Is this normal?
“Why… are you doing this, Luther?” I asked him.
“What, Thaliana?”
“This…” I looked at the bouquet, “and that…” I pointed to his car.
“You gave me a bouquet of flowers, and now you want to take me home. What do you want to know about me? Or do you want me to do something?”
He didn’t answer, just smiled and took my hand.
“W-What is it, Luther?”
He took the bouquet from me and ushered me into his car.
“It’s 8:15 pm, Thaliana, it’s not safe for you to commute now. Don’t ask questions, let me take you home.”
“Do you know where my house is?” I asked.
He placed the bouquet on the backseat and then moved to the driver’s seat. I just looked at him.
“I know.”
He approached me, and I stepped back. He handed me the seatbelt from the side and fastened it.
“You don’t need to tell me because I know where you live.”
I didn’t ask any more questions. As he started the car, I remained silent. I met him twice today. I don’t believe this is just a coincidence. Is he doing this because he knows I haven’t told Rozzean the truth yet?
Is he going to urge me to talk to his brother and reveal everything? Because that’s what he wanted all along.
“What are you thinking, Thaliana?”
I glanced at him.
“N-Nothing.”
I kept my eyes on the road; he indeed knew the way to my house. But how did he find out?
“H-How did you know my address?”
“I searched about you, right? I mentioned it the first time we met at Cyron’s house. I know things about you. About your shop, that’s why I went there. Is that your main branch of Tinatangi, right? Also, you have pets-dogs and cats.”
I swallowed. He indeed knew a lot about me.
“Y-Yes, I have pets, but they’re currently in my friend’s pet house. There’s no one to take care of them at my house because I live there alone.”
I saw his eyebrows furrow.
“You live alone? No one with you, not even a helper? Is it safe for a woman like you to live alone?” he asked.
“It’s okay, Luther. The security in that village is tight. Also, my Dad and Mommy approved of me living alone in my house.”
It seemed like that was something he missed in his research-that I lived alone. Luther didn’t respond to what I said. When I looked at my hand to check Rozzean’s ring, I glanced briefly at Luther.
“Do you really have no news about Rozzean? What if… if he’s looking for me?” I asked.
I remembered when I went to the market and came home late. Rozzean and Manang thought something bad happened to me. Rozzean had me searched by the police. Is he doing that again? Is he looking for me?
“Even Manang didn’t mention anything to me. All she said was they couldn’t find you. If you want, I can go to Tagaytay tomorrow to check on his condition.”
“D-Don’t… I-I will explain everything to Rozzean.”
Luther nodded at me, and after that, no one spoke to us. When we reached my house, I thanked him.
“Thanks, I didn’t bring my car because I came from my parents’ house.”
Luther handed me the bouquet of roses that I arranged myself.
“It’s nothing. Go inside; I’ll leave once you’re in your house.”
I nodded and took the gate key from the pot on the side.
“Why are you putting the keys on the pot, Thaliana?”
I looked at him. He furrowed his brows while looking at the plant pot. I smiled awkwardly. It seems he doesn’t agree with it.
“Uh, because I’m used to it–”
“You should cut that habit, Thaliana. It’s not safe. You live alone, and you put your gate key under a pot? What if someone sees you?” he asked, scanning the surroundings.
Is he scolding me?
“It’s just the gate key, Luther. The front and back doors of my house have smart locks, not–”
“Just don’t put the keys there, Thaliana. Is that too difficult to do? It’s for your safety. You live alone in your house.”
What’s bothering him? Other people do that too. I sighed. Since it seems he won’t back down, I just nodded.
“Okay, I won’t do it anymore.”
After locking the gate, I entered my house. I waved to him and headed to my door. As I entered, I saw through the window that Luther had also entered his car.
“He’s weird. Maybe he’s doing this to find out if I plan to tell the truth to Rozzean.”This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
