Chapter 101
Chapter 101
Josh’s Pov
My legs were as shaky as jelly as I stepped out of the room. Her hatred for me was the source of all my
horror. When she confessed to the procedure she performed on me, I wanted to split her face open.
How could a fellow human do such to another human? Yes, I was not innocent however she and that
l*natic crossed the line. But then my heart froze when she claimed to have inseminated herself with my
sperm. It was like I was reading a book of horror. When I was married to her I made it my mission never
to have a child with her.
She said she did it because of a loophole in my shares but I thought it was a punishment for all the Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
years I made those doctors lie to her. It was that confession that dissipated my wrath as soon as she
admitted it.
I had intended to strangle her if she was the one who caused the accident, but the prospect that I was
a parent, a possibility that had been taken away from me, softened my heart. I was in shock, the
woman crossed hell in order to make sure I was burning in hell. I’d accepted the fact that I’d never had
a child but fate played a hand.
I walked out of the room, ignoring the pistol that fell underneath the pillow. Whether she intended to kill
me or not was the least on my mind.
Her l*natic boyfriend and the other man stood by the doorway and were probably eavesdropping.
I locked my gaze on the psychopath, who had orchestrated everything that had happened to me. Thalia
was incapable of concocting such deadly plans. As he rushed inside Thalia’s room, he intentionally
brushed past me, barely caressing my shoulder. I was left with the other man who kept his stance. I
had no idea what his role was but he was the only one that did not look at me with so much hate.
I turned around, unsure of where the ICU was located and had no choice but to inquire. I inquired,
“Where is the baby, and in which direction is the ICU?” He volunteered to take me, much to my surprise
and we walked into the elevator, where I crouched and took a deep breath in. I had a baby girl and I
was a father. That was the realism I was attempting to instill in myself. The reality that had temporarily
soothed my anxiety and kept me from murdering.
I used to wonder if I had impregnated someone before the accident, in fact, I once wished it. Someone,
knocking on the door with a child, claiming it was mine. That dream was far-fetched then, however it
looked like it was becoming a reality.
“Are you alright?” The man asked.
I lifted my head up and looked up at him, “Do not try to act human to me, as far as I know, you are not
different from the two animals that did this to me,” I spat out.
He chuckled and looked away, there was silence and I slowly lifted myself off the floor as the elevator
came to a halt. It opened and he led the way but stopped to face me. “By the way, I’m just the pilot and
I think you are all animals,” he said and led the way. I snuffled, following behind as he led us into the
room.
My heart began to race, possibly due to a shortage of testosterone, and I became very emotional. He
handed me a gown and I entered the room alone, although I noticed I remained grilled at the door,
most likely guarding my visit.
They only let me see the infant because of the o*gan donation, not because they wanted me to meet
her, I was not s*upid. I would not have known about the baby if it had not been born with a congenital
problem, particularly since I had sold the shares. I shivered as I stepped slowly to the incubator, unsure
if it was a joke or a hoax.
What if Thalia was playing a game, and there were cameras hidden around the incubator, waiting for
me to peek inside? But my gaze was drawn to the most stunning creature I’d ever seen. I exhaled
deeply.
A slew of tubes hugged her body, clearly straining the tiny body. She was real, so I bit my tongue just to
make sure I was not dreaming. I wanted to take her hand and touch her, but the pilot had advised me
against it.
I just stared at her; she looked a lot like Thalia, but she had some of my traits as well, particularly the
ears and mouth. She was my baby, and I didn’t need DNA to prove it. Yes, she was born under the
most dreadful circumstances imaginable, but she was mine. I brushed my tears away, desperately
attempting to silence the whispers in my head reminding me of what her mother had done to me. I
wanted to concentrate solely on the wonder in front of me at the time.
It was ironic to call it as such but it was better than the taboo that Jessica and my father had created.
The baby was innocent and seemed to be paying for her parents’ sins. It was her mother’s desperation
to get revenge on me that brought her to life. Thalia and her boyfriend were sick and they crossed the
line, they needed to pay for all of their crimes, someone needed to make them pay. But looking at the
baby below, it looked like she was the one paying.
I really wanted to hold her, I noted she only had Thalia’s name on her wrist badly, they had not named
her yet.
Thousands of names flashed through my mind, and a smile grew across my lips. It felt unusual; a smile
was something I had lost on my face. For the preceding month, I had forgotten how to smile, but the
sleeping miracle seemed to have alleviated all of my misery. I fell in love with her right away and kept
reminding myself that she was mine.
She was so beautiful, I always wanted to have a child. I was not sure if she came at the right time but I
was short of happy moments in life. That there was a happy moment, a miracle that came with a price.
However Thalia, on the other hand, would never let me have her. They were teasing and playing with
my feelings. That’s why she requested for the liver and forgiveness in the first place. She knew I’d be in
a tough situation because the baby was the only one I was destined to ever have. Why else was she
born with a condition that I could only solve? It was fate, I was meant to meet her and I think that fate
betrayed Thalia and her p*ycho of a boyfriend.
She was remorseful and desired to kill two birds with one stone. For the past months, I had learnt that
they were the most powerful and untouchable people in the world. They could simply have kidnapped
me and taken the liver without my knowledge.
But yet they chose to ask for it, I could only assume the guilt was eating her up or she wanted a moral
story to come and bribe my daughter with, in case she grew up and began asking questions.
Both situations involved me being out of the picture. I was not a fool, if I did not play my cards right it
was going to be the last time I set my eyes on the baby. I could only imagine if finding out about her
was going to set another reaction of endless revenge. They were willing to go to lengths to take me
down that much I knew but what did I have? Or at what lengths was I willing to go? I needed to think, I
needed to clear my head.
I said my goodbye and walked out of the room. The pilot was still standing at the door. I walked past
him without saying a single word. He ran after me and grabbed my shoulder, I turned and ordered him
to get his hand off of me. He let go of me and apologized.”Please do not punish that baby for her
mother’s sins,” he said.
I only looked at him and walked away ignoring his pleas. I walked into the elevator and he followed suit,
talking about how I could be friends with Thalia for the sake of the child and we could co-parent.
However, I kept my mouth shut and placed it on the first floor. When the elevator stopped, I walked out
of the hospital, raised my hand for a taxi, and drove away. I headed straight to my mother, that was the
one place the l*natic would not get me.
