One - Hundred Eighteen: Marks

One-Hundred Eighteen: Marks
Alexis
All of us women were currently down in the rec room with all the kids. All the men are having one of
their “meetings” at Marcus and Jason’s place. I guess really it’s my place too. I wonder when those
guys will get a cue and realize that they are not being as sneaky as they think. It makes it blatantly
obvious when they congregate in one spot that they are up to something. They are being ridiculous.
“So how are we going to find this black market ring?” I ask.
I touch the mark on my wrist. Draydon’s brother Haze gave it to me. We were best friends, so I was
pissed and devastated when he was taken. How dare they take him. I gave him a mark as well. He has
been missing now for 1500 years now. I know he isn’t dead because he said that if he were to die, I
would feel it threw the mark. I know he has to be in some cell being held like an animal or in someone’s
private collection. I really want to shut this black market ring the fuck down.
“We need to find someone who knows the business that will help us.” Jailynn points out.
Yeah, we all know that. I sat there thinking about who could possibly help us out with this issue. We
have successfully, over the years, been able to not associate with those assholes. Obviously, we knew
people who got mixed up with that shit at one point. We had been sitting there for an hour now, talking
about everything. If what Damian said was true and Asomday was destroying previously places they
had met at or stayed at, then we were not going to find out much but going to those places. We did
send a couple of the animals to see if they could pick up a scent or something—anything to give us a
hint as to where they might have disappeared to. So far, they had found nothing. They did catch a
scent, but it led to another destroyed property. I started to think maybe one of us could come up with
something and try to get a hold of someone in the ring. If one of us acted like we were selling someone,
but I knew as soon as anyone saw any one of us, they would know, and it would be over. We sure as
hell can’t send Seth or any of the guys. Not this time. Having them go with Chris the last time was
brilliant, and angels are different from the people that are involved in shit like this. I would ask dad, but I
really don’t want him involved either. Besides, even if I asked him like it was just a question that I was
interested in, he would get suspicious and probably start asking the guys, and then who the fuck knows
what would happen. I am sure a very large fight between several people and Mykenzie and Kylani Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
would happen. Yeah, that is not a good idea. There is no one in the family we can ask because I know
it would get back to the guys here and all hell would break loose. Not what we need right now.
Deklan
This is a fucking terrible idea. The guys are just finally trusting me and know I get this thrown at me.
Mykenzie, Kylani, and Bryn just poof showed up and scared the shit out of me. I really wish they could
have given me a hint they were going to pop in.
“Deklan, we know you used to be involved with the ring,” Bryn says.
“We need your help to bring it down,” Kylani says.
Oh shit, seriously, they want to get back into that shady shit. I got out of it for a reason. It has been ten
years since I was part of that shit. I got out when I found my mate. I wasn’t going to put her or my future
family at risk. Now they want me to jump back into it. Mykenzie explains what has gone down in the last
few weeks. Well, fuck, that was not what I was expecting to hear. I am glad they caught the bears.
They deserve all the shit they get. The bastards fucked with the wrong pack. I was surprised to hear
about the angel and the demon. Oh, I know Asmoday from my time being part of that life. I know for a
fact he took over the whole operation about five years before I got out. I was fairly high in the ranks.
“I am not sure. If the guys find out about this and that you are involved, they are going to kill me.” I tell
them.
“Don’t worry about the guys. We will deal with them. They won’t be mad at you; it's our idea.” Kylani
says.
“Ok, let me make a few calls. I highly doubt that the two main holding facilities are the same. Asmoday
made sure to move the stock around not to raise suspicion.” I explain.
“Cool. We just need the location. We don’t necessarily need you to get involved again.” Mykenzie tells
me.
They leave, and I slump down into my chair. This is not what I want to do. I do still have contacts in the
business. I really have no choice; it’s not like I can tell them no. I might be scared of the guys, but I am
terrified of them. I wonder if Chris has any idea what his sisters are up to. Fuck, Kaleb is going to rip my
throat out, and Donte is going to help. They gave me 24 hours to make a few calls and then return.
Hopefully, at least next time, they will give a warning that they are going to show. I pull out my secret
book and cell phone. I flip through my contacts and dial the number. I know at least he’ll answer. He is
one of the few I still keep in contact with. We actually meet fairly frequently to talk and drink. He doesn’t
answer, so I leave a message. I know he will call back. Now it’s just a waiting game till he returns my
call.
Kylani
I know we scared Deklan badly. I actually feel bad for doing it. He has actually been extremely helpful
with all this shit. I know why he is hesitant to help us. The guys finally trust him, and he doesn’t want to
lose that trust. I get it, but he is the only one we could think of that has access to that world. So we had
no choice but to have him help us. Mykenzie, Alexis, and I are on our way to see Deklan. He called me
earlier to let me know that he had heard back from his buddy, that still knows about everything.
Apparently, this guy is not in it anymore but knows about the current locations and who is involved.
Deklan says that the guys wanted to meet us to discuss everything. I told Deklan that we would meet
him. I know Deklan is worried about the guys finding out and killing, but he has nothing to worry about.
We can handle the guys. They are not going to be a problem. We just got Deklan’s and were waiting for
him in his office. Alexis was sitting in his chair while we were sitting on the sides of his desk. We were
nice enough this time to let him know we were there. I turned as I heard the door open, and Deklan and
his friend walked. Well, well, this is not who I was expecting.
“Well, look who it is. It’s been awhile Storm.” Mykenzie says
“Why yes, it has, ladies.” Storm replies with a huge smile on his face.
Storm is a warlock that we have known for years. He has always been truthful with us, but then again,
we can read minds, so really lying to us is stupid. Mykenzie had actually talked to him about three
years ago when we started following the bears, asking him to keep an ear out for any information. That
was the last time we talked to him. We tell him everything that has happened and what we are currently
trying to do. He is all for taking the ring down.
“What’s that?” He asks Alexis.
I look at her, and she is rubbing her wrist. Yeah, I knew about the marks, and I always felt terrible that
we let that happen to Haze in the first place. She explains about the mark and how they did it.
“We weren’t mates or anything, but he is my best friend.’ She tells him.
“You do realize you have a way to locate him, right?” He asks us.
The four of us look at him like he has lost his fucking mind. He obviously realizes we have no idea what
he is talking about. He explains that since Haze used one of his scales to make Alexis's mark
iridescent and used her power through one of his scales to mark him back, they are connected. The
only issue is that he either needs to get near the fire, which is probably impossible since we are sure
the place where he is being held probably has shit installed to keep him from using his powers or
shifting into his dragon.
“Or she needs to get a hot scale to touch her wrist. But the fire cannot be from another dragon. It has to
be from a Phoenix because only a red Phoenix fire can send out the power. Way back at some point
both dragons and phoenixes had a common ancestor. So that's why the phoenix fire is the only one
that will work. Good luck at finding a phoenix.” Storm says.
The three of us look at each other and smile. Oh, that won’t be a problem. We have unrestricted
access to a phoenix. Alright, Haze, we’ll get you; bud, hang on a litter longer.. Oh, Asmoday, we are on
your ass, you piece of shit.
