Chapter 43
Elise stood frozen on the spot to the scene in front of her, a scene she had caused, She’d wounded Kaide and now Blood was everywhere.
Blood spattered on the floor, and her fingers, claws, and canine immediately retracted. The violet power in Elise’s eyes flickered and turned back to normal when she saw who she wounded, and it was Kaide,
Kaide, who blocked her attack on Zach and took the blood instead, felt a sick turn in her gut from shock as her senses were back. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
His back was left with a big, wide wound from her nail. “K-Kaide she stuttered out, her eyes blown wide in horror as her hands trembled from shock.
“Everyone leave!” He roars forward as all the young shifters hurry out with haste from the field.
“B-beta Kaide!” Zach exclaimed in shock and panic as he saw Kaitle here. Elise was more worried about his wounds, even though the beta was hardly worried about them.
His gaze was burning with so much anger at Zach. He looked at Elise’s wounded lips that were hurt from Zach’s attack, and his hand or Zach’s shoulders pressed harder when Zach cried out in pain.
“You’re going to kill him.” Taz says from the door.
“Good,” Kaide growls, and Elise stares at him, stunned. He just said that to one of his students, but Kaide didn’t care, and she was hurt by what Zach did to Elise.
“You need to get looked at; I’ll handle the b***d,” Tazmin says, and Raide finally lets go of Zach, who grunts in pain. The young shifter skittered back in fear of Kaide’s anger.
“Don’t say a word to Rygan,” he mutters before he turns to Elise. “Come with me,” he says, grabbing Elise’s hands without even hearing her reply. He takes her to the back room.
They get into the familiar rooms, where she recalls helping Vienna bandage up some patients. That was when Elise finally regained her composure when she felt his hands on her shoulder
She quickly shakes out of her frozen state, and she heads to one of the shelves packed with bandages. “What the hell happened over there? Why are you fighting with him there?”
He asked her as he took off his top, hissing from the contact with his wounded flesh, but Elise didn’t answer his question. Her eyes were still blown wide in panic as she pushed through different vials in the box in search of a bandage.
She was more concerned about his wounds as she dug up bandages from the box, her hands quivering in fear that she had hurt Kaide. These voices had ning far too deep again
“Monster! Look at him: you hurt him; you are a wicked little thing! She hears no voices ring and attacks her. She couldn’t breathe.
“Elise” He calls, grabbing her shoulders and turning her around to see her eyes glazed with tears and fear. “Hey, it’s alright,” he says firmly, making her let out the breath she’s been holding in.
“No, it’s not, I hurt you, 1-I” Elise muttered. She felt like she couldn’t make up more words; she felt like a mess right now, hurting someone who had never done anything to hurt her.
Elize, you didn’t know it was me; I moved in battle to stop the light, and you had no idea how to stop the attack. So I need you to calm down, I am not mad at you.” He assures her.
“You should be, I hurt you.”
“Listen, Idon’t know why you are still thinking about that; this at the blame game. So will you keep on blaming yourself. or will you help me get my back bandaged up?” He says this to Elise, offering her a little smile to show he wasn’t too hurt.
He was giving her a task to focus on, and she did just that, letting herself feel a bandage in her hold as she brought out a seat and back away from her till his back came into view. She cringed at it, her hands touching his back.
Her hands traced the maimed skin and how her claws had thig into his flesh. She felt that guilt welling back up, but she pushed it back down.
“I think I can do something about this,” she says the minute she dually calls down, and an idea pops into her mind. Please work, please work” she mutters to her as she presses her hands over his back, feeling that warm sensation take over.
What do you mean!…” But then Kaide feels a warm sensation on his back; that feeling of pain vanishes; the base of his wound is healed, and Kaide stands up in shock.
“You’re gifted,” he mutters in shock. “A healer and a shifter? That has been unheard of since Rygan became a shifter and telepathic: wolves hardly have more than one gift,” he says.
She wondered how he’d react if she told him; she was telepathic too, but she didn’t mention it “I wasn’t sure to tell you,”
“No, you wouldn’t be forced to if you did: no one had seen a gifted healer in almost a century. It’s unheard of that you have power, you are special.” Kaide says to her that she sees excitement and intrigue pass in his gaze before he hides it away.

“Thanks, but I think we still need to put the bandage on so they won’t be suspicious.” She adds, and Kaide nods in agreement, his face still in awe of her.
She worked with fast hands just like Vienna taught her. Kaiden’s bandage was dressed, and he was ready to wear his clothes.” I think this is ok,” she said to him. Her face was dull and filled with guilt that she was the cause of this situation.
“Hey,” he says. Elise feels his warm hand on the tip of her chin, tipping her face forward until she looks up at him. “You did well today, El.
“You don’t even know why I attacked him; how do you know I’m not the one at fault? How do you know I wasn’t the one just acting up and needed to be outdone instead?” She was confused as to why he wasn’t scolding her.
“Because I know you won’t start that, and let’s just say that Tazmin is the worst f**g hand he could get punished by,” he Says, earning a smile on her face. “Beautiful,” he mutters, causing Elise’s smile to fade.
There was now a heated tension between them, and Elise couldn’t help recalling Vienna’s words of giving Kaide a chance; did he even feel that way?
-What are you thinking about?” He mutters, and Elise feels his face getting closer to hers.
“Shh,” he calls, their breaths inches away from each other, her body pressed to the wall, and his face inches from hers, his lips almost touching hers, but Elise backs away at the last minute
It caused the beta to move away and study her frame, noticing the blush on her face, a smile appeared on his face, knowing that he had caused that.
“One date,” he whispered.
“What?” Elise mutters as her eyes shoot open
“One date, that’s all I ask,” he says as he says, reminding her about his offer of being her second choice, a distraction. “If you feel so guilty about everything, you could go out with me and relax, El. I won’t eat you, not yet,” he jokes, and El throws a bandage at him, making Kaide chuckle.
“But I won’t let you get off the h**k that easily; I can’t let the others know I have a favorite,” he joked, “but you have to clean the arena for three nights straight and then… Can we go out?”
“I think about it.”
She says this, surprising Kaide, who freezes when he reaches the door. He had expected her to say ‘No’ plainly, but her answer stuns him. Looking back gives Elise one last glance and a wink that makes her insides twist.
It leaves Vienna and Kaide’s words ringing in her head: should she accept his proposal? It would be the only possible way for Rygan to forget about her and about him.
Even as her wolf scolds her, she still thinks it’s good to give him a chance. So should she?
