Chapter 313
Moondance Villa.
Living room.
"What?!"
The high-pitched voice echoed through the villa, startling the birds perched on the branches outside, causing them to take off with a fluttering sound, filled with fear. However, this fear was confined to the startled birds.
Inside the living room, Jonas' expression remained consistently calm as he brewed tea, maintaining that icy demeanor. Even the action of steeping the tea leaves did not pause. On the other hand, Dylan, after the initial shock, stared wide-eyed at Jonas. Seeing Jonas's calm demeanor and his seamless actions, Dylan gradually regained composure.
His thoughts raced through his mind at lightning speed, and Dylan immediately took a seat across from Jonas, asking, "Are you sure? Did Naomi go to San Angelino with Charles?" It was this question that left Dylan stunned, unable to react for a long while.
"Yeah." Jonas picked up a teaspoon, scooped tea leaves into the teapot, and poured hot water into it, and the fragrance of tea instantly filled the air, dispelling the tension brought by Dylan.
Dylan, observing this seemingly emotionless figure, furrowed his brows. "Did something happen?"
This morning, when he woke up and checked his phone, he saw two messages. One was from Naomi, sent at 12:17 am.
Naomi mentioned that her friend had a sudden illness and was rushed to the hospital. The situation was dire, and she had to go there immediately. There was a possibility that she would not return today, so she informed him in advance and asked for leave.
Reading this message, he felt a bit surprised, but other than that, he did not find anything unusual. It was normal for close friends to rush to the hospital in case of emergencies. If one of them fell ill, he would do the same without hesitation.
Therefore, he did not sense anything wrong with this message.
He responded to Naomi, instructing her to focus on her affairs, as it had no bearing on the work here. Then, he turned his attention to another message from Jonas.

something important, it surely was
not a simple matter. Thus, he quickly
tidied up and went to see Jonas.
Upon arrival, he heard Jonas saying that Naomi and Charles went to San Angelino the previous night. This explained the earlier scene.
He was taken aback. Naomi told him she needed to take leave due to a friend's sudden illness, but Jonas claimed she went to San Angelino with Charles. What was going on?
Moreover, San Angelino was Charles' mother's hometown. Could it be that Naomi went with Charles to meet his maternal relatives?
As such thoughts formed, they were
swiftly dispelled by Dylan. He believed it could not be true. Naomi was not the type to lie, especially about such matters for an excuse. There must be something wrong.
Otherwise, Naomi would not have left together with Charles.
As the words came out, Dylan continued, "Naomi sent me a message last night, saying her friend had a sudden illness, and she
needed to rush over to see her ne
friend. She also asked for a leave,
saying she couldn't come to work today."
"I didn't think much about it. Friends, you know, it's quite normal. But-"
"You say Naomi sent you a message last night?" Dylan was interrupted by Jonas before he could finish his sentence. Dylan paused and looked up. "Yes, I only saw it this morning."
At this point, Jonas stopped his tea-making, staring at Dylan. "When did she send the message to you?"
"At 12:17 am. It was already past midnight, and I already went to bed. I only saw it when I woke up this morning."
