PHB 44
For over two hours, they enjoyed the romantic movie that Lucas had chosen. Although it was a sweet romantic story, for some reason, perhaps due to the baby or her deep emotional connection to the characters, Deasy became emotional and shed tears. There were parts of the film that touched her deeply and moved her to tears.
Lucas even reached for Deasy’s shoulder, pulling her close, and tried to soothe her emotions to prevent her from getting too lost in the movie they were watching.
“Are you okay?”
Deasy nodded again. Inside, she felt embarrassed for being so emotional that she cried in front of Lucas.
She knew there were no sad scenes or separations of lovers in the movie. So why was she shedding tears?
“Shall we eat?” Deasy redirected the conversation.
“Yes, let’s eat. I’m sure you’re hungry too.”
Lucas then took Deasy to one of the restaurants he believed would suit her taste.
They ordered some dishes, and when the waiter came and prepared to serve, Lucas was ready to feed Deasy. However, realizing they were in a public place, Deasy quickly declined. She felt embarrassed about being treated like a child in front of so many people.
“I can eat by myself, Luc. If you feed me, your food will get cold.”
“Usually, it’s fine,” Lucas replied casually.
“Yeah, I know. But when we’re outside like this, I’d rather eat by myself. It’s embarrassing to be spoon-fed.”
Lucas agreed and let Deasy enjoy her meal on her own. After all, it was better than her feeling uncomfortable and not eating at all.
“After this, shall we go home?” Deasy asked during their meal.
Normally, Lucas would be the one to break the ice and start a conversation, but this time, Deasy put her ego aside and initiated the conversation. She felt uneasy facing Lucas, who had been silent and focused on his meal.
“Do you want to go somewhere else?”
“I do,” Lucas replied. “Let’s explore a bit more. It’s only 5 o’clock. It’s too early to go home, don’t you think? Are you tired, or can you handle taking me for a walk?”
“It’s fine,” Deasy replied confidently. She had been enjoying herself the whole time and didn’t feel tired or bored. “So, where do you want to take me?”
“I want to play a bit.”
“Play?”
Deasy was taken aback. She couldn’t have heard that correctly, could she? Were they, both in their thirties, going to play?
“Yes.”
Lucas nodded. After finishing their meal, he once again took Deasy’s wrist and held it tightly. Nonchalantly, he led her towards one of the indoor entertainment centers that were well-known in the mall.
“Trans Studio? You want me to play in there?”
Deasy was momentarily stunned. She wondered why Lucas had stopped right in front of the entrance to the indoor play area.
“Yes, I want to take you to play inside,” Lucas said, pointing with his finger toward one of the play arenas that looked crowded from the outside.
“Don’t joke around, Luc,” Deasy shook her head in disbelief. Imagine, they were already in their thirties. Deasy herself was 33 years old. Could Lucas really be inviting her to play in an area filled with children?
“I’m not joking. I really want to take you inside to play. Besides, let me ask you, when was the last time you played in a place like this?”
Deasy was reluctant to entertain the idea. But for some reason, her brain and mouth found it challenging to compromise. It was as if she had to answer Lucas’s question. So she tried to remember for a moment before finally giving a response.
“Maybe back in elementary school.”
“That means it’s been decades, right?”
Deasy nodded.
“You could say that.”
“Alright, come on in. Besides, I’m treating you, and don’t worry, I won’t take you on any extreme roller coaster rides or anything.”
Deasy nodded. She didn’t think for a moment that Lucas would challenge her to an adrenaline-filled competition on extreme rides. She was sure Lucas was fully aware of her pregnancy.
So, pushing aside any negative thoughts, Deasy accepted Lucas’s outstretched hand and followed him into the play area. After that, he led Deasy to ride on a carousel, or as she fondly called it, a merry-go-round, which went around twice.
At first, Deasy was concerned. But after getting on one of the horses, she felt happy and comfortable. Her memories were drawn back to decades ago when her parents had taken her to places like this.
It wasn’t just the carousel that Deasy tried that day. Lucas also took her to see a funhouse, a giant princess, an acrobatics show, and a colossus drama. The last stop was a haunted house.
“You’re making a big mistake by taking me to places like this, Luc,” Deasy commented as they prepared to board the carriage for the haunted house.
“Why? Are you scared?”
Deasy shook her head.
“No, I’m not scared of this stuff. If you think I’ll get scared and cling to you, I can assure you that won’t happen.”
Lucas burst into laughter. Even though that was his plan. Deasy had already seen through him, and he didn’t mind.
As they entered the haunted house area, it seemed normal at first, and there was no fear visible on either of their faces. However, when they reached a certain point, it was Lucas who became restless, especially when they encountered a ghost that resembled Suzzana. The ghost reached out to embrace and hug him.
Without hesitation, Lucas screamed in fear and immediately hugged Deasy. He tried to hide his head as the carriage they were riding in exited the haunted house area.
“You’re supposed to be brave, but just seeing a ghost like that, you’re already out of breath,” teased Deasy, laughing. She continued to laugh at Lucas as they walked out of the play area.
“It’s not fear, it’s more like surprise.”
“Excuses! Once a scaredy-cat, always a scaredy-cat.”
Deasy kept walking. As she descended the stairs and headed toward the parking lot, she decided to take a brief rest. Her heels were tired after a day of walking.
“Why? Tired?” Lucas asked.
Deasy nodded. Her heels were indeed very tired. Despite being just a short walk away from the car park, she felt exhausted.
Lucas couldn’t bear to see her like that. He immediately sat down and, without any hesitation, reached for Deasy’s ankles. He massaged them for a while until Deasy felt comfortable again.
“Feeling better now?”
“Yeah, a bit. But it’s not a big deal. We just need to walk a little more to reach the car, right?”
Lucas continued to observe how Deasy walked. Seeing that she still felt uncomfortable, he once again persuaded Deasy to step aside.
“I’ll carry you.”
“What? No way!” Deasy protested. She would be embarrassed if Lucas had to carry her, especially in front of so many people.
“Why not? I’ll carry you to get to the car faster.”
“But people will see, Luc.”
“So what? It’s great if people see, especially the singles, so they’ll be jealous.”
Lucas was just being reckless!
But Deasy had to admit there was some truth to what he said. Besides, there weren’t too many people passing by. So, the chance of being seen by many was quite low.
“Come on, let’s go. It’s getting late. If we keep thinking about it, it’ll be morning, Des. Besides, it’s about to rain.”
“Fine, let it be. We’re taking the car anyway.”
“Oh my Godness, Deasy. You’re arguing even now. Come on, let’s go quickly.”
Deasy gasped but then quickly agreed to let Lucas carry her to the car.
Unfortunately, what Lucas had feared actually happened. As they were walking towards the parking lot, it suddenly started raining. Consequently, their clothes got a bit wet from the rain. Although it wasn’t too much, they were still damp.
Throughout the walk, they laughed as if what they had just experienced was hilarious.
“Are you okay?” Lucas asked.
“Yeah, don’t worry,” Deasy replied, wiping her wet face with a tissue. “Seriously, today has been so random. I cried during the movie, wasn’t scared at the haunted house, and now we’re caught in the rain even though our car is right in front of us.”
Lucas laughed too. They both found it amusing and enjoyed what they had done together today.
“I’m really sorry that you got wet like this, but you’re still happy, right? I mean, with our little adventure today?”
Deasy nodded repeatedly. She couldn’t deny it, even though she had initially said she felt nothing. What Lucas had done for her today had truly made her happy.
“I’m so happy. I’ve never been this happy before. By the way, thanks for taking me out today, Luc.”
“You’re welcome. And after I get back from my trip, I’ll take you out again.”
Deasy was surprised. Lucas’s words caught her attention.
“Trip? You’re going on a trip?”
“Yes,” Lucas nodded. “I have a two-day business trip starting tomorrow. I hope you don’t mind me leaving you for a little while.”
Deasy nodded. She agreed with it, but for some reason, deep down, she didn’t feel comfortable with Lucas leaving. Even though he assured her it would only be for two days.
When they reached the apartment, Deasy remained silent. She might still be feeling a bit reluctant. It was funny how she claimed to have no feelings about it, but once Lucas mentioned his trip, she became restless and grumbled.
“Let’s change our clothes so we don’t catch a cold. Or do you want to take a bath? I’ll prepare it for you,” Lucas said, guiding Deasy to sit on the edge of the bed.
“I’ll take a bath.”
Lucas nodded. He went to Deasy’s bathroom and prepared some warm water. After that, he handed a towel to Deasy.
“Alright, get in the bath. The water is ready. I’m going to clean up as well.”
But there was one thing that caught Deasy by surprise. As Lucas entered her bathroom, he was topless. Whether it was intentional or because his shirt was wet, Deasy couldn’t be sure, but it made her quite flustered.
Why?From NôvelDrama.Org.
Lucas casually walked back and forth in front of her without wearing a shirt, displaying his fair and well-built chest. His abs were visible, showing that he was someone who enjoyed exercising.
“Oh my God. What’s wrong with my eyes and my brain!”
Deasy muttered to herself while averting her gaze. But not looking felt like such a waste.
His eyes.
His lips.
His chest.
His abs.
“For God’s sake, please clear my dirty thoughts!”
So, Deasy continued to silently watch, suppressing a nervous laugh and enjoying the breathtaking view in front of her.
Then, after a while, Lucas, who had already prepared the medication and vitamins on the nightstand, turned to her. Their eyes met.
This took Deasy by surprise. Like a person caught doing something, she immediately averted her gaze, acting as if she hadn’t seen anything before.
“The medicine and the vitamins are ready, just need to be taken. After this, you—”
“Luc,” Deasy interrupted immediately. She pulled Lucas’s wrist, urging him to sit beside her.
“Why? Do you need something else? Or—”
Lucas’s sentence came to a halt. It was replaced by readiness and a profound surprise. How could he not be startled when Deasy, for the first time, came closer and planted a kiss right on his lips without warning?
And would this be just a kiss later on? Or would it end up more like the two nights they had spent together before?
