ROSE PENDANT
Layla sat in the car as she looked out the window enjoying the cool breeze.
As the car sped through the city streets, Layla watched the scenery change from tall skyscrapers to lush green trees. She felt a sense of peace, despite the tumultuous events of the day.
It had been a long and difficult day, but she felt a sense of hope and possibility as she looked ahead to the future.
With Nolan by her side, anything seemed possible.
The car turned onto a familiar street, and Layla recognized the neighborhood. They were headed back to the pack.
She then noticed him take another route as he diverted.
“Where are you going? Do you want to get something..” she asked curiously, picking up the packet of chips, which she began to chew loudly.
“I’m going to a goldsmith.. ” he replied, fixing his eyes on the road.
“A goldsmith?” Layla asked, raising an eyebrow. “What for?”
“It’s a surprise,” Nolan said, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
“You’ll have to wait and see.”
Layla pouted, pretending to be put out. “You’re no fun,” she teased. “How am I supposed to contain my curiosity?”
“That’s part of the fun,” Nolan replied, his eyes sparkling.
Layla laughed, realizing that he was right. Part of the excitement was not knowing what was to come and she was excited to know what he wanted to do there.
After a thirty-minute ride, they arrive at a shop.
The area was quiet.
The shop was small and unassuming, located on a quiet side street. A small sign above the door read “Hewitt’s Goldsmith Shop.”
As they walked inside, Layla was struck by the quiet and cozy atmosphere. The shop was filled with an assortment of jewelry, from delicate necklaces to ornate rings. The walls were lined with shelves, each holding a different collection of pieces.
“Can I help you?” A friendly voice called out from the back of the shop. A man emerged, his face breaking into a warm smile as he recognized Nolan.
“Alpha Nolan!” He exclaimed on seeing Nolan and he quickly rushed to welcome in.
“It’s my honor to welcome you here. My queen.. ” he bowed at Layla.
“Thank you, Mr. Hewitt,” Layla said, smiling graciously.
“Welcome to my abode, and I am honored to serve you. Now, what can I do for you today?”
“I need a custom piece of necklace” Nolan replied, his voice firm and confident. “I have a specific design in mind.”
Mr. Hewitt’s eyes lit up, a gleam of excitement in his gaze.
“A custom piece! I would be honored to create it for you” he said happily.
” Please sit Your Highness. Forgive my manners.. ” he ushered them as he offered them seats.
” So What design do you want?” He asked Nolan.
“I have a sketch,” Nolan said, pulling a folded piece of paper from his pocket. He opened it up and handed it to Mr. Hewitt.
“I want this made into a pendant, for my wife.”
Mr. Hewitt’s eyes widened as he looked at the sketch. It was a detailed drawing of a rose, with delicate petals and intricate details. It was truly a work of art.
“This is beautiful,” Mr. Hewitt said, his voice full of admiration.
“It will be a challenge to create, but I am up for the task. What kind of metal do you want? ” He inquired.
“I would like it made in white gold,” Nolan replied, his voice steady and sure.
“And I would like the rose to be studded with diamonds. Nothing too ostentatious, but enough to make it sparkle.”
Mr. Hewitt nodded, already thinking about the materials he would need. “I have the perfect rose-cut diamonds that would be perfect for this”
“I know I can trust you to create this piece” Nolan stated. Hewitt was known as the best goldsmith amongst Lycans.
” I want something else, it’s for my unborn baby..” Nolan announced.
“I want a charm bracelet, with the same rose pendant..” he informed and Hewitt noted all of it down.
“I’ll get them ready Alpha..”
“Good, we’ll take our leave now… send words when you’re done..” Nolan informed, taking Layla’s hand.
” Have a safe trip back to the pack, Your Highness.”. Hewitt bowed as they both left the store.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were getting me a gift?” Layla blushed after they got into the car.
“I told you it was a surprise..” Nolan replied as he caressed her cheek affectionately.
“A surprise is one thing, but this is too much!” Layla exclaimed, her cheeks still flushed.
“I feel bad that I don’t have anything to give you in return.”
Nolan’s eyes softened, and he took her hand in his. “You don’t need to give me anything, Layla. The only thing I want is your love. That is more than enough for me.”
Layla felt her heart melt at his words. “You are too sweet, Nolan”
Nolan grinned, his eyes twinkling with delight.
“You’re my woman, you should expect more..” he leaned over to kiss her, but Layla shifted away.
She suddenly remembered what Carla had said to her.
“What’s the problem?” Nolan asked, sensing her change in countenance.
“Stop lying to me, Nolan. We both know that months from now you’re going to be choosing a mistress.. ” she blurted out in anger.
” What mistress? ” Nolan asked with furrowed brows as he sat back on the chair.
“Carla said that you’re going to choose a mistress. Someone who could give you what I cannot,” Layla said, her eyes filled with hurt and uncertainty.
“I know it is the custom, but I thought… I thought we were different.”
Nolan’s face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger.
“Who told you such? It’s the custom, yes but I never thought of getting a mistress..” he informed in a curt tone.
“I’m sorry for doubting you, Nolan,” Layla said, her voice small and shaky. “Carla just put these ideas in my head, and I let them take root. She said you were going to pick her and I didn’t want to share you with anyone.. so… ” her voice trailed off as she picked her nails.
“I should have trusted you,” she concluded softly.
Nolan reached out and took Layla’s hand, his gaze softening.
“It’s okay. Rest assured, you’re the only woman in my life and the only one I want. I’d never choose a mistress. You’re more than enough for me and if I’m to choose one, I’ll never take Carla..” he confessed.
Nolan had always seen Carla as his little sister and nothing more.
Layla felt a weight lift from her shoulders, as Nolan’s words sank in. He loved her, and he didn’t want anyone else. She knew he was telling the truth, and it made her heart swell with happinessOriginal from NôvelDrama.Org.

Nolan smiled, a smile that reached his eyes.
“I love you too, Layla. And I am honored to have you as my mate” he said.
” We should get going now, it’s getting late..”
Layla nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. “You’re right. We should get back to the pack”
As the car made its way through the streets of the city, Layla’s thoughts turned to the future. The challenges they faced, and the triumphs they celebrated. But most of all, she thought about the love she shared with Nolan, and how it would carry them through anything.
