Chapter 43 Hint?
Chapter 43 Hint?
The thing Bailey hated most was being threatened.
No one could threaten him, be it his wife or his children!
The whips came down repeatedly, each time with monstrous rage.
Lacey did not retort. She was beaten on the ground until her flesh was ripped apart.
"Are you going to behave now?"
Bailey questioned again, furiously, as the whip slashed down.
Lacey's body was numb from the pain. She shook as she bit her lips tightly.
Where was he? He should have shown up by now!
"I'm asking you a question. Are you playing dead? I'm going to beat you until you talk!" Bailey was in a
fit of rage. He raised the whip and struck her hard again.
This time, however, someone grabbed the whip before it struck.
"Who dares to interfere?" Bailey blurted out instinctively.
When he turned his head back to look, he froze.
"Dad." Lillianna sounded disbelieving, and her eyes widened.
She glanced at Bailey, then at Lacey, who was lying on the ground on the edge of death. She was
astonished.
Indeed, she had always known that Lacey was not liked.
Even so, she hadn't expected her father to beat Lacey to this extent.
What exactly happened?
"Sam, it's you." Bailey's expression twisted at that. "Why are you back so early?"
The whip slipped from his grip as he felt uneasy.
"Why did you come back without informing us?" Madeleine grabbed Lillianna's hand and gave her a
reproachful look.
Lillianna was perplexed as well. She snapped back to her senses and looked at Sam with anxious
eyes.
"Sam, I—" She stammered and didn't know what to say.
"What if I told you that they didn't care about us and didn't like us? What if I told you they were the ones
who drove us to a dead end? Would you believe me?"
Sam frowned as he recalled the memory. Gradually, he crouched down.
Without a word, he took Lacey in his arms.
Lacey immediately buried her face in his coat. Tears rolled down her cheeks and soaked his shirt.
She clutched his clothes tightly like a bullied child.
"Sam, it's not what you think. Lacey has just come back and done something over the top. I was merely
trying to educate her!" Bailey hurried to explain.
"That's right, Sam. Your uncle was only concerned with Lacey's upbringing. As a result, he has resorted
to such an extreme method. It wasn't his intention!" Madeleine chimed in with her two cents.
Sam ignored the two. His gaze fixed on the woman in his arms.
Lacey slowly lifted her arm, revealing the bloody marks on top.
Despite tears on her face, she smiled. "Sam, do you get it now—" she said slowly with eyes full of
sarcasm.
She stared at Sam.
What was that look in her eyes?
Was it despair?
Was it sadness, perhaps?
Wait, there was more to it. There was a broken heart.
Conflicting emotions filled Lacey's eyes.
For just a moment, Sam's heart twitched inexplicitly.
His heart ached.
Not saying anything, he rose to his feet and walked out with Lacey in his arms.
"Sam." Lillianna hurried out after him.
"I'm taking her to the hospital," Sam said in a cold tone.
"I'll go with you." Lillianna was struck with panic for some reason.
She had a feeling of losing Sam forever if she let him go now!
......
"Sam, I'm going to phone my doctor and have him come to have a look." Bailey felt anxious as well.
"Sam, If you worry about her, I'll accompany you to the hospital. I, too, worry about Lacey." Lillianna
hurriedly grabbed the man's arm, and her tone was full of pleading.
"There's no need for that." Sam's tone was light. He didn't even turn his head as he carried Lacey to NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
the door.
It wasn't until Sam disappeared that they realized what had happened.
......
Fast forward to the VIP ward.
Lacey's wounds were soon treated.
Her face was pallid as she lay on the bed. She fell asleep as a result of the injection.
Sam, on the other hand, sat on the sofa with his gaze down. He looked at the data on his phone and
frowned.
It had been Lillianna Carter all along!
The woman the male model was referring to was actually Lillianna!
His face became even grimmer as the following piece of information was presented.
Asa had provided him with a copy of the hotel footage from that night.
What the two had done on the bed was now before his eyes.
The content of the video was clearly shown.
It was at this moment that Sam realized he had been deceived!
Anger filled his eyes as he stared up at the woman on the bed.
So this was the reason why Lacey had provoked him again and again.
Because of this!
No wonder she seemed so familiar to him, as did her scent!
"Ugh—" Just then, a soft cry rang out. Lacey frowned slightly on the bed.
Immediately, Sam got to his feet and walked right over.
Lacey slowly opened her eyes. Her pale cheeks and dark eyes betrayed a quiet demeanor. She looked
around and was at a loss. "Where am I?"
"The hospital!" Sam replied.
Lacey paused for a second and looked down.
She had changed into a hospital gown, and the white tape on the back of her hand hadn't been torn
off.
What happened a moment ago flashed through her mind, just then.
Slowly, she sat up and looked at Sam. "Thank you, Sam!" She said, grinning.
"What for?" Sam looked at her and said in a low voice, "Isn't this what you wanted to happen?"
Lacey frowned slightly, not quite understanding what he meant.
"You knew I'd come to Carter's, didn't you?" With a strong sense of coercion in his eyes, he
approached her.
Lacey couldn't help but frown.
"Lacey, you're quite a clever girl!" Sam said in a sarcastic tone.
Lacey remained silent with her eyes fixed on the man.
Sam smirked as he stood to his feet. He then turned around and walked over to the window sill.
Pushing the window open, he lit a cigar.
"If my memory serves me correctly, Theo should have informed you that we've returned. With your
intelligence, you'll soon figure out that we're on the same plane. I'm not interested in where you're
heading after getting off the plane. But you were smart enough to send me a message once you
returned to the Carters, hinting me your whereabouts."
Sam smiled faintly and went on to say, "You kept avoiding my question on the island. However, doesn't
the fact that you sent me such a message implies that you want me to know the answer?"
He stubbed out his cigarette and turned his head to look at Lacey. "How did you know I would come?"
Lacey's expression stiffened.
Sam was in no hurry and simply stared at her.
Thereupon, Lacey looked at him with dazzling but cold eyes. Her voice was low and cold, not obvious
as if it were an illusion. "Because I know that you're curious about me!" She said.
"Oh?" A skeptical voice emanated from the man's.
Lacey stepped out from under the blanket and walked barefoot to Sam.
"Because all men are attracted to vixens, and I'm nothing more than a lowlife vixen," she said as she
stood on tiptoe and pressed her red lips against his ear.
Sam smiled when he heard that. With one hand, he grabbed around her waist and pulled her close.
He, too, leaned in and whispered in her ear. "Would you like to do it more thoroughly? Like, being a real
vixen who is despised by millions."
Lacey looked up at him blankly.
What did he mean?
Just then, someone knocked on the ward's door.
"Lacey, are you asleep? It's me, Lillianna."
It was Lillianna at the door!
Lacey sneered deep down. Lillianna showed up just in time!
Raised her head, she beamed. "Sam, let go of me. If Lillianna sees us like this, I'm worried she'll
misunderstand us."
"You care about how she feels?" Sam sneered.
"Of course, that's your fiancée, my dear sister!" Lacey raised her eyebrows and said matter-of-factly.
"Oh really?" Sam smirked. "Why didn't you consider that she was your sister when you tried to seduce
me?"
Lacey was awed.
"Sam, what are you talking about?" She played dumb.
Chuckled, Sam pinched her waist. "A.T.T.I.X.S. Do you recognize this place?"
Lacey's eyes widened in shock.
Attixs was a seven-star hotel where she had lost her virginity!
"What are you talking about? I don't quite understand." She tried pushing him away.
She had a strong feeling of unease for some reason.
Such unease scared her and made her want to escape.
However, Sam had her locked tightly in his arms and she had nowhere to run.
"Lacey, are you asleep? It's me, Lillianna. Open the door!" Lillianna yelled from behind the closed door.
"Ms. Carter, are you here to see the patient? I've got a key here. I'll get it for you right away." A nurse's
voice sounded.
"Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience," Lillianna said.
Hearing the voices, Lacey knew Lillianna would be in soon.
"Lillianna is coming in. Let go of me!" Lacey struggled to flee.
"Are you scared of her?" Sam smiled sarcastically.
Lacey frowned and said in an unhappy tone, "Why should I be scared of her? You're the one who
should be scared. What are you doing now? Are you planning an affair with your fiance's sister? Aren't
you worried that Lillianna will get jealous?"
Sam remained silent in a smile.
Yes, he wasn't afraid at all.
"Sam Garrison, I demand that you let go of me!"
In fact, she wasn't afraid of Lillianna being jealous at all. What she was afraid of was this man!
He could see right through her!
Lacey had a feeling that if she continued to pester him, she would be at a disadvantage.
"Sam Garrison, huh?" He chuckled. "It's quite amusing how you called my name."
Indeed, Lacey's rage was evident in how she called out his name. This was the first time anyone dared
to express their displeasure with him!
"If you don't let me go, I'll tell her we slept together!"
She blurted out in desperation.
After all, he had paid her 400,000 dollars to keep her mouth shut!
"Ha!" Sam was even more amused.
"Lacey, have you underestimated her? She didn't even care that you slept with me the first time, let
alone the second!"
Lacey was startled.
What did he say?
Sam felt content to watch her dumbfounded expression. Then he picked her up, walked to the bed, and
laid her down.
His hands propped up on either side of her, he said, "Lacey, you want revenge on her, don't you? Why
don't you take her place and become Mrs. Garrison?"
Lacey was too shocked to speak at this point.
