Chapter 22 What Do You Want
In the kitchen, Lexie was taking the snacks and filling the plates.
Edith suddenly came in.
“Let me help you, sister.”
Lexie’s back stiffened and she subconsciously took a step back, pulling a safe distance from Edith.
Edith cocked her head and looked at her, “What’s that look on your face? Are you afraid that I’ll eat you?”
[No need to pretend to be nice to me. You did the news thing, right?]
Although Lexie had a good temper, she had always seen things clearly.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“What does it have to do with me?” Edith hugged her arms and snorted coldly, “With this incident, you should see clearly, you’re not welcome in the Howard family at all, and you’re still staying here.”
Lexie looked at her and explained, expressionless.
[Marrying into the Howard family was arranged by you and father.]
“Yes, that’s right, but at first I didn’t know what kind of person Alan was, and now it seems that father made a big mistake in this move, and it’s only right to for me, a daughter, to help him fix it.”
[You should tell that to father.]
Lexie’s eyes were firm, and if Peter wanted her to leave the Howard family, she would definitely leave without hesitation.
As long as she didn’t endanger her grandma’s life, she didn’t want to stay in the Howard family in fear.
Edith, however, misunderstood her and her face instantly sank, ”Are you pressuring me with father? What are you? Do you really think that father is thinking highly of you by marrying you to marry into the Howard family?”
Lexie frowned.
What was in Edith’s mind?
In the beginning, it was they who disliked Alan’s ugly appearance but had to attach to the Howard family, so this was why they pushed her into this fire pit.
“Lexie, I’m telling you, I want Alan for sure, the position of Mrs. Howard belongs to me, so you better give up, otherwise don’t blame me for being rude. I have been merciful in this matter!”
Lexie glared at Edith, wanting to retort something but not wanting to make a big deal out of it, [What exactly do you want from me?
“I want you to go and file for divorce with Alan yourself and leave the Howard family.”
[That’s impossible] Lexie shook her head.
“Then don’t blame me for being rude, Lexie, don’t forget that even without the gym teacher, you still have other leverage in my hands!”
Lexie frowned.
“I heard that Myles Lawrence has returned to the country, if Alan knows about that thing…”
Edith’s gaze was filled with cold mockery.
[Don’t be ridiculous.]
Mentioning that name, Lexie’s face suddenly turned even paler, and her hand holding the corner of the table trembled slightly, [I have no contact with Myles for a long time]
Seeing Edith refusing to stop, Lexie clenched her fist, her gaze gradually calming down, [If you have to be do this, I guarantee that even if I leave the Howard family, you won’t be able to enter the Howard family’s door]
“What did you say?”
In front of Edith, Lexie fished out her phone from her pocket.
“You recorded it?” Edith’s face sank fiercely.
She had never expected that Lexie, who had always been obedient, had done this trick.
If the words she just threatened Lexie were heard by Alan, the consequences would be unthinkable, after all, the ‘gym teacher’ news was a disgrace for the Howard family.
[I don’t want to fight with you for anything, as long as father agrees, I’ll leave the Howard family immediately, don’t you force me!]
Lexie’s gaze was calm and determined as he quietly looked at Edith.
Peter can’t control Edith, the pressure from both ends fell on her, and she can’t keep sitting still. Or when there was a trouble, she would be kicked out by Alan!
Edith was furious and reached for the phone, “Give me the phone!”
She was careless, and the recording should never be kept.
Lexie hurriedly dodged, and the plate with the snacks behind her was knocked over.
It hit the ground with a clang and fell in pieces.
“What’s wrong, Edith?” It came Diana’s questioning voice from the living room.
Seeing this, Edith was even more anxious, taking advantage of Lexie’s unpreparedness, she grabbed her phone and threw it directly into the pool, the clattering water instantly submerged the phone.
In the scramble, Edith actually hugged Lexie directly and both fell down towards the ground.
“Ah…”
Screams echoed through the kitchen.
“What’s going on?” A deep, cold male voice came from the kitchen doorway.
At some point, Alan also returned, coincidentally bumping into the argument.
At this moment, Lexie was pinned underneath and raised her head in pain, and she saw Diana and Alan walking in one after the other.
Alan stood behind Diana, tall like a majestic mountain.
Lexie shuddered subconsciously.
Without waiting for Lexie to explain, Edith, who was sitting on the ground, was the first to cry, “Alan, my hand is bleeding!”
Diana exclaimed, “What’s wrong with this?”
Edith’s hand pressed against the broken porcelain, and bright red blood oozed from her palm, dripping to the ground.
“My sister wasn’t feeling well, so I tried to help her, but she pushed me. Alan, I’m in so much pain …”
This was simply nonsense!
Lexie’s face was pale, and she subconsciously looked at Alan and shook her head straight.
She believed that it was impossible for Edith to make Alan gullible with such a clumsy tactic.
Alan frowned slightly, striding past Diana and squatting down in front of the two, but only swept a cold glance at Lexie, extending his hand towards Edith in the next second, “Let me take a look.”
Edith was still sobbing and trembling as she stretched out her ‘delicate’ hand towards Alan, “It really hurts, I just wanted to help my sister, but my sister said she doesn’t like me always appearing here, saying she is the mistress here, Alan, shouldn’t I come …”
Alan’s face sank slightly as he gave Lexie a cold look.
“This is the Howard family, it’s not your turn to decide who can come.”
Lexie’s heart sank, looking at Alan in disbelief, shaking her head in denial.
[I didn’t.]
She hadn’t done anything, so why wouldn’t he even hear a word of her explanation?
In front of her, Alan helped Edith up and instructed the maid to get the medicine.
Edith obediently leaned into his arms, and he didn’t dodge away.
As she left the kitchen, a smug glint flooded Edith’s eyes, and she cast a warning look towards Lexie.
‘The phone’s gone. If you talk too much, you’re dead.’
Seeing Lexie still sitting on the floor, Diana glared at her in disgust, “Why are you still sitting there? Hurry up and clean it up. I really don’t know what’s wrong with the Mitchell family, you are both the Mitchell family’s daughter, but let such a nasty daughter marry into our family, it’s really bad luck!”
