Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Cynthia only gave her father a vague explanation the other day at the hospital, and he wanted to know all the details of what happened in the past two years.
Cynthia responded calmly, “There’s nothing much to say. I was just a substitute. Now that the game is over, we’re going our separate ways.”
Mr. Yates was taken aback.
A substitute…
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Mr. Yates asked.
“I’m not a child. I can handle these things. Besides, he’s handsome,” Cynthia answered.
Mr. Yates did not feel relieved by her words. On the contrary, he felt even more uneasy.
“Cyn…”
“If there’s nothing else, let’s stop here. I didn’t sleep well last night, so I need to catch up on some rest,” Cynthia interrupted, not wanting to say more.
“Actually, there’s one more thing…”
“What is it?”
“Her daughter works at the Yates Group. You might run into her.”
When Mr. Yates said this, he dared not even look into Cynthia’s eyes. In fact, he was terrified. to look at them.
Cynthia knew who he was referring to.
Mr. Yates felt uneasy and continued, “If you don’t like it, I’ll ask my secretary to change her position.”
“You can do whatever you want,” Cynthia replied, clearly uninterested.
Mr. Yates did not know what to do. He did not want to bother Cynthia too much for fear of annoying her.
Cynthia slept the whole morning and only woke up around four in the afternoon.
Just when she planned to check the time, she found a text message.
[Jayleen: Mrs. Neal, can you help me get in touch with Joshua? I have something very important to tell him.]
Cynthia was shocked.
Were mistresses these days really that bold? Why would she contact the wife instead of the man directly?
She dismissed the message and got up to attend to her own business. She was not a saint and could not possibly be the messenger for Joshua and his mistress.
Besides, there was definitely something fishy about the message.
There were other people in the Neal Group that Jayleen could contact, so why did she message
the person she disliked the most?
it all seemed very suspicious to Cynthia.
Buzz!
Suddenly, Cynthia’s phone began to vibrate intensely. She looked at it and saw that it was the same number that had just messaged her. In other words, it was a call from Jayleen.
Cynthia answered the call and decided to record the conversation just in case.
A soft and somewhat sad voice sounded as soon as the call connected.
“Is this Mrs. Neal? This is Jayleen. Can you please give the phone to Joshua? I need to tell him. something important.” Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“No,” Cynthia replied curtly.
“Mrs. Neal, I really do have something very important to discuss with him. Please, can you help me out?” Jayleen persisted, maintaining her previous tone.
“You have no shame,” Cynthia retorted. This was her usual attitude toward Jayleen. “Do you really think it’s appropriate for me to help you contact Joshua?”
Jayleen stayed quiet.
Cynthia delivered a final blow, “It’s better to have some dignity. Don’t you think so?”
“Mrs. Neal…”
Beep, beep, beep…
Cynthia did not hesitate to hang up the phone. She even blocked and deleted the number as
she really did not want to receive any more calls from that person.
To be honest, she could not understand what Jayleen was thinking.
[Mrs. Neal, please, I really need to see Joshua urgently.]
