Marrying my high school bully

Liam’s threat

Author’s POV

She glanced sideways then headed into the police cell after tipping the officer on duty to keep his mouth shut. It wasn’t hard to get anyone to do what you wanted as long as you had the money.

Again, her head was covered with a veil and she donned a pair of sunshades even though the weather wasn’t too sunny. She had to be extra careful if she wanted everything to go smoothly. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Liam, who sat shirtless inside the cell, sprang to his feet the moment he saw his visitor. He already had a scowl, but it became more vicious when he realized who was visiting.

“Hi, Liam.” She greeted rather quietly, as she didn’t even want his other cell inmate to guess she was the one. “How are you faring?”

Liam chuckled deeply, then continued frowning. His nostrils flared as he glared daggers at her.

“Are you asking me that?” His voice bore a proof of barely suppressed anger. “It’s because of you that I’m stuck in this shit-hole and you are asking me how I’m faring? Why don’t we switch places so that you can truly know how I’m doing?”

She signaled for him to relax and sighed. “Don’t raise your voice at me, Liam. You are locked in here because of your foolishness and not because of me. If you hadn’t pestered me with your silly calls, I wouldn’t have asked you to come over. And how come you appeared almost immediately after I called you, even with a mask?”

He snorted and licked his lower lip. “That’s none of your business, but you’re lucky that you came without me asking you to because you are going to get me out of here.” He demanded, balling his fists.

She tilted her head backward and gave him a condescending once-over.

“What makes you think that I’m going to do that? I’m not your errand girl, you know, so fix it!”

“Then why are you here? Isn’t it because you know that I can get whatever I want even though I’m behind bars?” He sneered, his fingers closing around the iron bars.

If it were possible, he would break through the metals and force her to do his will. But if that could happen, he wouldn’t be there in the first place.

“I’m here to solidarize with you because of what we have and nothing more. Don’t expect anything from me again and enjoy your stay here. I’m sure it’s going to be so much fun.” She smirked and blew him a kiss.

She made to walk away when he stopped her with his words.

“If you don’t get me out of here in two days, I’ll make sure Dexter gets to know the truth about the paternity of his child.” His face darkened with an evil smile when he saw the effect of his words on her.

Emilia’s body stiffened and she slowly turned around, her face pallid and her lips widely parted.

“What did you just say?” She whispered.

He leaned closer to the iron bars and shrugged. “You heard me, Emilia. Get me out of here within two days or Dexter will know who the real father of the beautiful daughter he dotes on is.” He caressed the stubble on his jaw and winked at her triumphantly. “And slowly, I’ll tell him every secret you’ve managed to hide from him all this while. I can’t wait to see how he’ll tear you apart when he finds out that you are a murderer, a liar, and everything other evil things any human can be.”

She blinked and swallowed, coming closer to him. “Don’t you dare threaten me!” She barked, but even her order lacked conviction as her body shivered visibly.

“But I’m not, darling. I will do exactly what I said if you don’t get me out of here.” He took his hands off the bars and retracted his steps. “Two days, honey, or everything goes out.” He said and sank onto the floor, silently dismissing her.

She stomped her foot on the ground, unsure of what to do. She couldn’t yell because it would bring unwanted attention to herself so she spun around and ran to her car.

She stormed into her father’s office and found Melissa giving her father a side hug. She hissed loudly, alerting them of her presence.

“If it isn’t the whore herself,” She muttered under her breath, though anyone who stayed close to her could hear.

Leonardo broke off the hug and waved Melissa goodbye, who flashed a fake smile at Emilia and left.

“What are you doing with that bitch, dad?” Emilia whined, slumping onto the chair and flinging her designer’s bag carelessly on his table.

She had always been untidy so acting thoughtlessly wasn’t strange to her father anymore, after all, they were the same with evil etched in the fabrics of their hearts.

Leonardo’s eyes shone with surprise as he lowered himself on the chair opposite his daughter. “Melissa is a bitch? What has she done?” He asked worriedly and right there she broke into a sob.

“She’s the woman who’s trying to take Dexter away from me, father. I hate her so much and I can’t wait to do to her what I did to Lorraine. She reminds me so much of Lorraine.”

He nodded in agreement. “Yeah, she reminds me of Lorraine in several ways. Sometimes, I have to stop myself from referring to her as Lorraine but I don’t think Melissa is bad at all because she’s helping me to bring this company back to life.”

“Pfft!” She rolled her eyes and massaged her forehead. “As if you ever cared about the company. You are here for the money and you are going to get all of it, but that isn’t why I’m here, though.”

“Why are you here?”

“Liam is in prison.” She announced to her father.

“That shouldn’t be your problem, Emilia. I never liked him from the jump.”

She ruffled her hair in frustration. “What I’m about to tell you will make you hate him more.”

“Tell me all about it.”

She explained how he blackmailed her into giving him money and how Dexter got him arrested. She also told him how he threatened her at the cell and by the time she was done, Leonardo was already livid.

He paced around his office, throwing curses without restraint.

“How can you be so dumb, Emilia? If Dexter finds out that he’s not the father of the child, you’ll be dead meat, and you know how much we need his money.” He reminded her, propping his arms against his waist in disappointment.

Emilia inclined her head and clasped her hands together in shame. “I don’t know what to do, father. I’ve succeeded in keeping Dexter with me for this long, I don’t want to lose him at all.” She rasped, her eyes glassy with unshed tears.

He returned to the chair and placed his hand on her back. “You aren’t going to lose him.” He said firmly and she raised her head.

“How?”

His lips stretched into a cynical smirk as he folded his hands. “I’ve got a pretty good idea that is going to solve all of our problems.”
