Love At The Wrong Table

Love at the 1957

Shane’s Unexpected Encounter

Ever since he had started working, Shane often slacked off, only to read

novels.

Out of all the novels he read, dozens of them had the premise of masters

emerging from the mountains with their opening on how the protagonist

used the worn–out trick to approach the heroine.

As a result, he could only rely on this for his approach. Who would have

expected that it would work, even though it’s an old trick?

Sonia was surprised. After shooting a glance at her best friend, Rhea, she

turned to meet Shane’s gaze, even grabbing his hand in anxiety.

Whoa! Such an action caused his heart to flutter. Could this actually work?

Could my luck with women be turning around? Did the authors of the novels

lie?

“Shane, judging from your unusual build and…. different appearance, you are definitely a master from the mountain,” she said in one breath. “You guessed

it right. My grandpa’s critically ill. Would you be able to save him?”

It was only then that Shane realized that he had made a correct guest. Man, All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

I’m such a lucky one. “Ye-”

He was about to answer with confidence when Sonia interrupted, continuing,

“My family’s not an easy one to handle. So, if you can cure my grandpa, a

handsome reward will be waiting for you. However, if you’re a fraud, you’ll

meet your downfall.

Shane tensed up at that. Smiling, he quickly changed his approach. “What I

meant is destiny has brought us together. I’m probably meant to help you. I

just remembered that I have urgent matters to attend to, so why don’t we-

Screw it. I better split while I can. I barely know anything about medicine.

Shane knew his place well enough to know that life did not imitate art. He

wasn’t a divine doctor from the mountains. If he was caught masquerading

as one, the consequences would be severe!

Shane’s Unexpected Encounter

As he was about to leave, the woman in white yoga pants grabbed his arm,

feeling agitated. “Shane,” she asked, “have we met before?”

“What do you mean?”

Had a beauty like her approached him in such a manner moments ago, he

would have been ecstatic! However, he now responded with an air of

caution, “Miss, don’t hit on handsome guys with such a method. I don’t know

you, so there’s no point clinging to me like a leech.”

He tried to break free from her grip to avoid being dragged back to practice

medicine and run the risk of being caught.

Yet, she exclaimed in excitement, “You must be Manuel’s junior, aren’t you?”

Manuel? Shane was taken aback. So, it’s not my dashing looks that you

chatted me up.

“Sonia, I think your grandpa might just be saved!” she continued. “Manuel is a

divine doctor with unparalleled skills. If this man here is his junior, his skills

should be just as good.”

Shane was speechless yet again. What kind of logic is that? Even Einstein and

Socrates can’t hold a candle to you!

“Rhea, are you sure?” Such words made Sonia just as excited. She tightly

gripped Shane’s hand, and as her eyes sparkled, she asked, “Sir, are your

medical skills and those of your senior really as awesome as what Rhea

said?”

“Well, our average level is rather high. Think of it as an eight–story tall

building.” He reluctantly released Sonia’s hand but was adamant about

telling the truth. With Emmanuel’s skills comparable to a 15–story building and

mine only at the first story, averaging it out brings us to the equivalent of an

eight–story tall building.

“Then, quickly save my grandpa!” At that, Sonia yanked Shane along with her.

“My father also added that my grandpa has only three more hours to live,”

she continued, by way of explanation. “If we delay any longer, we’d be too

late!”

Shane’s Unexpected Encounter

Rhea had no idea that Emmanuel was in Yeringham and never thought of

reaching out for help.

If Shane could admit it, he did not want to leave with them, but it was hard f

him to refuse when the two innocent ladies–Sonia and Rhea–yanked him

along.

I’d have to take the risks to reap the rewards. I mean, nothing ventured,

nothing gained. Ah, forget it. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.

Caught being a rock and a hard place, he eventually decided to take the risk

and go for it! My medical skills? Sorry, I have none!

Not long after the ladies pulled Shane into the Toma family’s place,

Emmanuel also arrived with Jake, only to be held back by the guards.

“My apologies, Mr. Fletcher. Old Mr. Toma is critically ill, so the Tomas aren’t

welcoming any visitors.”

“What? He’s critically ill?” Jake paled. Turning to Emmanuel, he continued, “Mr.

Lowe, sh*t has just hit the fan.”
