Chapter 699: A Significant Figure Arrives
The next day, Tina woke up to find Jared no longer by her side. After she got up and washed up, she went downstairs and saw Jared busy in the kitchen. He was wearing an apron, methodically preparing breakfast as the sunlight cast a unique glow on him. Tina watched him, feeling a sense of peacefulness in the passing years.
When Jared looked up and saw Tina standing at the kitchen door, he walked over and tapped her nose gently, saying, "Wait a bit longer, it's almost ready."
Tina smiled slightly and replied, "Okay."
Soon, breakfast was ready. Considering Tina had been overly tired the day before, Jared had made chicken soup. The chicken had been bought fresh that morning by Nathan. In addition to the chicken soup, there were two side dishes and two eggs. Both Jared and Tina didn't eat much, so the amount prepared was just enough for the two of them.
After they finished eating, Jared handed Tina a paper napkin and then took one to wipe his mouth. He then said to Tina, "Tina, I plan to start looking for your biological father."
Tina's fingers paused slightly, and her eyes narrowed. After a moment, she asked, "Why?"NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
She had thought about finding her father before, but she knew almost nothing about him. She had asked her mother, but her mother refused to tell the truth. Now that her mother was in a coma, it was even harder to find any information about her father. She had almost given up on the idea of finding him, as the concept of 'father' had always been foreign to her.
Though Hugo had treated her like his own daughter, he was not her biological father. For her, having her mother alive was enough. In fact, nobody knew that there had been times when she resented her father. She couldn't understand how a man could get a woman pregnant and then not show his face even though his daughter was now over twenty years old. Although her mother said her father was a good man, for Tina, who had never experienced fatherly love, he was not competent.
"Master said that we need to have your father present if we are to marry," Jared said seriously, taking Tina's hand.
"Getting our marriage license was spontaneous, but for the wedding, I want your father to be there."
Tina was silent and did not respond.
"Originally, I thought we could delay setting a wedding date to discuss it with both families, but after yesterday... I don't want to postpone our wedding anymore. I want to have it as soon as possible," Jared continued.
They had already registered their marriage, and both families had discussed a wedding date. However, considering that Natalie had not yet awakened, the wedding was set for two years later. The Farrell family naturally wanted the wedding sooner, even though he and Tina were already legally married, as Logan felt it was unfair to Tina without a wedding ceremony.
The Brookes family also wanted them to have the wedding soon but were more concerned about Natalie's condition. Since Natalie was still unconscious and Tina had finally reunited with her after many years, it would be a burden for Natalie if she woke up and had missed Tina's wedding. Therefore, the Brookes family decided to give Natalie two years. If Natalie woke up within that time, the wedding would proceed immediately. If not, they wouldn't wait any longer. They didn't want to keep postponing Tina's wedding.
As for finding Tina's father, Jared remembered his master's words: Tina's wedding must have her father present.
At present, there was scant information about Tina's father, and he could only try to search for some clues. After all, the only person who knew anything about her father was Natalie. "Alright."
After finishing their meal, Jared and Tina left. Tina headed to the Flame Ice stronghold in Ashbury, determined to find her father, and now had to seek out leads. She had other important matters to attend to, which she had to leave to Flame Ice. Jared went to the X Bureau. Dorothy Russell had fled, Justin was dead, and it was time to deal with some traitors at the X Bureau. However, he did not plan to show up in person. Today, he arrived at the X Bureau with an appointment letter in hand, naming Nathan as the Deputy Director of the Ashbury X Bureau.
He drove to the X Bureau and went directly to Linden's office to hand over Nathan's appointment letter, then planned to leave. But Linden stopped him, "Do you know that a big shot is coming to the X Bureau today?" Jared paused, "Who?" He was unaware of this, having focused his recent efforts on the Five Poisons. Now that these issues were nearly resolved, he had time to visit the X Bureau.
"That one," Linden pointed upwards. Jared's deep eyes brightened slightly; usually unflappable, he was somewhat unable to contain himself, "You mean, General Praevion?" In this country, there was a legend, Ruud. He was the nation's General Praevion, also revered as the General Praevion by the people. Linden nodded, "This morning, he personally called to instruct everyone at the X Bureau to stay put, not to leave for any reason." Linden glanced at Jared and clicked his tongue, "I think this is the calm before the storm."
Jared laughed, "The X Bureau has been too comfortable for too long, it's time for a storm to really shake things up."

Linden glared at him, "Don't imply anything, I may not be so clean, but I've given my all to the X Bureau."
Jared raised an eyebrow, silent. He indeed wanted to meet his idol. But today was not the right day. With this thought, Jared stood up and said, "I should go now."
"Aren't you curious about what General Praevion is here for this time?" Seeing Jared's indifferent demeanor, Linden couldn't help but ask. Jared smirked, "Whatever General Praevion does, he has his reasons, and you should cooperate. He's not likely to dismantle the X Bureau entirely."
Seeing his lack of concern, Linden said, "Well, since you're not interested, you can go. I'll announce Nathan's appointment later."
Jared grunted in acknowledgment and walked out. Just as he left Linden's office, suddenly a group of fully armed individuals burst in. They held their guns and skillfully surrounded everyone at the X Bureau, "Nobody move."
Following them, Ruud, dressed in combat gear, walked in. His presence exuded an aura of royalty, and with every step, he took, it became harder to breathe. The personnel of the X Bureau, seasoned warriors all, felt diminutive in front of Ruud, like mere cats. Most of the X Bureau did not recognize Ruud, even Linden and Christopher had only ever seen him from a distance. At that moment, a stern-faced man beside Ruud commanded, "Everyone stop your work, hand over all communication devices, and submit to inspection."
Hearing this, everyone at the X Bureau was stunned. They were used to investigating others; how had they now become the ones under scrutiny?
