CHAPTER 13
CHAPTER 13
Summer Frost POV
The banging sound on the door pulled me out of my deep slumber, and I forced my eyes open.
“Who is there?” I groaned as I managed to stand up from the bed and headed toward the door.
“It’s me, ma’am,” Our maid, Anna spoke from outside, and when I opened the door, I saw the blonde–haired girl standing at my doorstep.
“Anna? Is everything alright?” I asked surprisingly,
“Someone is here to see you, ma’am. I told him you were napping, but he said he won’t leave until he sees you,” She explained to me, and I sighed. Who
the fuck was that?
“Alright. Go back and tell the person that I’ll be there in a minute,” I went back inside and washed my face before I left to go see whoever had shown up to disturb my nap.
My steps slowed down and finally stopped when I walked inside the living room and saw Xander sitting on our couch. Here to beg for his Mom’s life?
“What are you doing here?” I asked as I walked over to the living room and sat on one of the couches.
“Summer_”
“How d
did you know where I live, and what the hell are you doing here, Xander?” I tried to speak confidently and not lose it.
“It’s not important now, Summer. Please I need your help,” Fear was written all over him as his voice quivered.
“Are you stalking me?” I raised my eyebrows at him even though it was obvious that he was doing that. I mean, how did he find out about here if he wasn’t stalking me?
“Summer…” He paused and stood up.
“Are you here to threaten me again, Xander? The forty–eight hours you have me is not yet over. Why are you getting ahead of yourself?” I knitted my eyebrows together, and he sighed.
My jaw dropped to the ground when Xander went on his knees right in front of me, his eyes filled with tears. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
ve my mom? I don’t want her to die,” It was the first time! “You are my last hope. We can sort out whatever difference we have later. Can you please save was getting to see this gullible side of Xander after what happened between us years ago, and I didn’t expect less from him, considering how much his Mom meant to him.
“I will pay you any amount… Please save my Mom,” A drop of tears slid down the corner of his cheek as he pleaded with me. My heart wrenched painfully, and I couldn’t deny that I felt bad seeing him in that situation. I didn’t want to feel anything for him, I wanted to see him suffer, but then, seeing him so broken somehow broke my heart.
“Do you think I want your money? What makes you think that I care about whatever happens to your Mom?” I was glad I did a good job by hiding my emotions as I looked into his eyes like this
wasn’t a big deal.
“You must’ve thought that ‘Oh, she will definitely agree to this when I go on my knees and shed a drop of tears. I don’t give a fuck, Kander, I don’t care about you or your family!” I slammed my hand on the center table and rose to my feet.
“You should try suing me or maybe throw me out of the city since you own it, if after forty–eight hours, I refuse to do what you want,” I towered over him and whispered, picking my words one after the other.
“Summer…” His voice came out weakly with pain resounding in it.
“You know I have a right to sue you for stalking me, right? I’m going to call the police on you if you dare show up at my house again without an invite. Excuse me,” I walked past him, but he held my hand, bringing me to an abrupt halt.
“Summer… Please save my Mom… Please don’t let her die,” Tears streamed down his cheeks as he shook his head. He looked like a desperate jerk. Oh, that’s what he really is, anyway.
“Xander….
“Mom… We are home,” Jake’s voice interrupted us as the boys showed up in their school uniform.
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath and turned in their direction to find them looking at me with shocked expressions on their faces.
“Mom… Who is…” Jack stopped talking when Xander looked at them. The look on their faces and that of Xander explained that they must’ve met
somewhere.
“Ella’s Dad?” Jake’s eyes narrowed in shock.
“Mom…. Why is Ella’s Dad in our house? Why is he kneeling in front of you?” Jack asked innocently as he blinked his eyes.
Looking back at Xander, he had this confused expression on his face.
“Kids…Go upstairs to your..
“They are your kids?” “Xander’s voice finally came on as he slowly stood up from the ground and turned to me.
“Sweetheart… Why don’t you wait for Mommy inside, hmm? I have something to take care of here,” I tried as much as to pretend everything was fine.
“Alright, Mommy,” I was glad they listened to me and walked away, leaving me and Xander alone in the living room.
“Sum…mer
“Leave my house and don’t you dare show your face to me again. I won’t hesitate to call the cops on you if you ever show up like this again,” I stated bluntly and turned to leave, but his words brought me to an abrupt halt.
“Are they really your kids?” Slowly, I clenched my fingers into a tight fist and bit my bottom lip as memories of that cold night flashed through my mind. Memories of how he reacted when I told him I was pregnant, how he threw me out that night. The thought of those memories brought nothing to my heart but pain.
“Yes… The thing in my stomach then. They are the ones,” I faced him and forced a smile.
“Why do they…” His voice trailed off, and he blinked his eyes as if he was searching for words to say to me.
“Don’t forget to lock the door on your
on your way out,” And with that, I headed toward the staircase….
