Chapter 571 Stop Right There

Chapter 571 Stop Right There

After Philip left, Casey immediately shut the door, shivering uncontrollably from head to toe in anger. Fine, it seems that there is no other way I can talk some sense into my father’s head. In that case, I guess I’ll have to leave everything to the court. Casey then poured herself a glass of water and guzzled down one shot while taking a long time to calm herself down.

Upon contemplating to herself, Casey gave Amanda a call as Amanda’s voice rang out from the other side of the phone. “Hello, Casey.”

“Amanda, my dad… He came by again earlier. You were right about him. He just tried to guilt-trip me, but I didn’t fall for it or agree to his proposal, so he ended up stomping off angrily. However, I’m not sure whether he’ll be back again….

“I’m sure he will, which is why we must gather all the evidence we need as soon as possible. Speaking of that, you have to collect samples of your brother and father’s hair or toothbrush for a DNA paternity test. If you think you can’t get it done, I can take care of it for you.”

“No… No need for that. I’ll do it myself. It’s easier for them to find out if you’re the one who does it.” Casey refused to let Amanda get involved as she was concerned about her safety.

“Okay, just be careful. Don’t hesitate to give me a call if you ever find yourself in trouble; otherwise, you could always turn to Symeon. I believe he’ll offer you some protection.”

Casey’s heart raced when she heard Symeon’s name, thinking that man seemed to hold quite a special place in Amanda’s heart. After all, Amanda had never denied what he was capable of.

“Alright, I heard you. I’ll get the samples ready and give them to you soon.” Casey soon hung up the call and fell into a deep silence. Deep down, she had no idea whether what she was going to do was right. Instead, the only motivation that prompted her to do that was her desire to keep and protect what her mother had left for her. No, I must never lose what Mom left for me, and I will not let that b*tch,

Eleanor, get what she wants, but… How am I supposed to collect samples of my dad and Peter’s hair and their toothbrush?

After a brief contemplation, Casey decided to call the butler at home and went on to dial his number. A few moments later, the call was finally answered, just as the butler’s voice was heard.

She dialed the housekeeper’s number, and it rang for a long time before he answered. The housekeeper’s voice came from the phone, “Miss Casey, I certainly didn’t expect a call from you. Are you coming home? Please come back here at once. Your father didn’t mean to give you a hard time.”

“I didn’t call you to talk about that, Mr. Sol. Look, I’d like you to do me a favor.”

“I’m all cars, Miss Casey.”

“Can you please get me my dad and Peter’s toothbrushes? If possible, please get me Eleanor’s toothbrush as well. I’m going to need it too.”

“What are you up to? Are you trying to gather those things for a DNA paternity test?” Dylan was able to see through Casey’s intention.

“Just stop asking questions already. I need them for something else. Just get them ready, and I’ll come by and pick them up tonight” Casey was nervous, worried that the butler would reject her.

Soon, a long silence ensued and filled the atmosphere until the butler’s voice broke it. “Um… I thought you guys did the test earlier. Nothing was wrong with that, was it? Please, Miss Carter Please put an end to your foolish actions and learn from your mistakes. Come home and talk to your father, or things are going to get ugly when both of you have to see each other on court.” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Are you going to help me or not, Mr. Sol? I need those things for something else, not for a paternity test.”

“Okay. Okay, fine… I’ll help you, but you mustn’t tell your father about it because he is going to kill me if he learns about that.”

“Of course, this matter stays between the two of us.” Casey tightened her grip around her phone with at glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

“Alright, I heard you.”

“I’ll come by to pick up those items tonight. Remember, be discreet.”

After hanging up the phone, Casey heaved a sigh of relief, thinking all that was left was to gather the three toothbrushes before she could hand them over to Amanda for testing. Deep down, she didn’t believe Eleanor was not related to the man whom Peter called ‘Daddy.”

Later, when the night set in, Casey arrived at the Carter Residence’s gate, waiting for Dylan to bring what she needed. Nevertheless, the man she was expecting to see didn’t show up even after a long wait, which made her wonder if something wrong had happened. Troubled by wild imaginations of various worst- case scenarios, Casey was tempted to enter the house and find out about Dylan’s status. However, her rational judgment quickly kicked in and prevented her from doing so. No, that’s risky.

What if I ran into my father? How should I explain to him about my sudden appearance around the house? And what if Eleanor…?

The more Casey dwelled on that, the more troubled she became.

Meanwhile, Dylan was busy packing the three toothbrushes into a bag, which would later be secretly delivered to Casey. Nonetheless, when he walked out the door, he accidentally bumped into Eleanor,

who happened to come home from her facial treatment.

“Are you blind or something? You should have watched where you were going! Were you trying to kill me?” Eleanor angrily reprimanded the butler.

“I’m so sorry, Madam, but I have some important business to attend to. I promise I’ll be back with at satisfactory explanation.” Dylan tried to leave in a hurry, but Eleanor seemed reluctant to let him walk. away just like that. Thus, she seized his arm and questioned his attitude.

“What kind of attitude is that? Are you trying to brush me off rudely?! Or do you think I can’t run the family properly?”

“No, Madam. It’s just that I’m really in a hurry. Can I come back and talk to you later?” Dylan was desperate to walk away.

However, the butler’s strange behavior and the mysterious bag in his hand began to arouse Eleanor’s suspicion. “Get back here! What is it that you’re holding?! Are you stealing something from us so that can sell it off?”

“N-No, Madam. Of course not…” Dylan panicked, not knowing how to explain himself.

“Then, what is inside the bag? Show me. Eleanor stuck out her arm, trying to snatch it.

Nevertheless, Dylan instinctively dodged Eleanor’s catch, knowing she would suspect something was wrong if she saw the bag’s contents.

“How dare you hide it away from me? You work for the Carter Family, and everything here belongs to us, for your information. So, who do you think you are to take something away from us without showing me? What’s exactly lying inside the bag?”

Eleanor then opened the bag from Dylan’s hand, only to find three toothbrushes inside. Seeing two big toothbrushes and a smaller one, she could immediately tell that they belonged to them. “What are you doing with our toothbrushes? Tell me! What do you want to do with them?” Eleanor’s mind was filled with questions, yet it didn’t occur to her at all that those toothbrushes were for a DNA paternity test. After all, she didn’t think a butler would do that.

In the meantime, the fact that Dylan stuttered and struggled to talk his way out made Eleanor even more suspicious of his actions. “Are you planning to give them to someone else? What are you up to? When did you learn to take advantage of us?”

On the other hand, Casey eventually entered the house, having a bad feeling when Dylan didn’t show up as they agreed. Upon entering the house, she saw the standstill between Dylan and Eleanor, confirming her suspicion. Therefore, Casey silently ran up to Eleanor and snatched the bag from her hand before making a run for it.

Words can’t prove anything now, so I’m going to let the evidence talk when the results are out!

Before Eleanor could react, Casey had already snatched the bag and fled. “Stop right there, Casey! What do you think you are doing?! Put the bag down!” Eleanor shouted out to the lady while giving chase.

Without looking back, Casey sprinted toward the Carter Residence’s gate, but to her surprise, Eleanor, who had the remote control with her, closed the gate in time and managed to trap her within the compound.

“Where do you think you’re going? You’re such a disgrace for stealing from us! Are you trying to steal our toothbrushes for a DNA paternity test?” Eleanor tried to snatch the bag from Casey.
