Chapter 69
“Kira
“Can you hear nie?!”
“Are you okay?”
“Wake up!”
“111 take care of it!“
“She’s fine!”
My memory was a horrible mess, I could not make out the words completely or who said them or where I even was. It felt like I had temporarily lost my wits. The words continued to echo in my head jolting me awake.
As I slowly opened my eyes, the bright light of the infirmary room pierced through my brain like a needle. I wondered how long my eyes had been closed for an ordinary light bulb to appear so blinding to me. I felt so confused. I winced, raising a hand to shield my eyes so I didn’t end up blind.
“What happened? How did I get here?” Were questions I had with no one around to answer them.
–
Fragments of my memories flashed through my mind like a flickering candle the ocean, the dive, the feeling of suffocation. And then, a voice. Aston’s voice. I remembered hearing it before everything went black but that didn’t help. swer any of my questions, I still didn’t know how I got to the infirmary or who brought me. Did I come myself? Was I dragged here? I was dying to know even thought I felt weak as hell.
My body ached all over, it felt like I was thrown into a sack of potatoes and pounded with a pestle. I tried to get out of bed but I was tied down by a bag of liquid slipping it’s way into my body with the help of the needle that was stuck in my wrist. I was tempted to take out the needle and just leave.
The last time I was at the infirmary, there were so many people around that it was hard to be worried about why I was there, I just got distracted by other people’s problems instead but right now, I was the only one in the room. The room was sp***us and spotless. No crying babies, no chatty women or screaming nurses, just myself, a big a**bed with a remote, a drip stand, a TV, a humidifier and a million other things the room was equipped with
I made myself comfortable under the sheets and put on the TV. It had been ages since I watched Television!
Just when I was starting to doze off, a maid burst into the room like a ray of sunshine, her bright smile and sparkling eyes a
stark contrast to my groggy state.
She looked familiar. Although, I could not tell if it was because of her clothes or because of her smile. They both stood out
ני
“Kira, oh my goodness, I was so worried about you! What happened?” she asked and I would also like to know what happened to me.
She exclaimed, her voice like a gentle breeze on a summer day. She rushed to my side, her footsteps echoing off the sterile walls of the infirmary. Everything about her was movie-like, she was a walking dream or maybe it was just my head playing it out in slow motion.
I tried to speak, but my voice was barely a whisper. “I…I don’t know. I remember diving into the ocean, and then…nothing” My words were like a soft whisper, barely audible. I struggled to sit up, my head spinning non stop.
Her eyes widened like they were going to pop out of their sockets, her eyebrows shooting up like they were aiming for the sky.

“How can you not remember the most epic thing that happened in the history of epic things You’re the talk of the palace, kirat All the maids and guards are buzzing about how the alpha carried you to the infirmary in his arms I
!!! believe it! 1 wacy’s lucky enough to get a glimpse of it myself but from what heard, he carried you bridal style and the way he probed the doctor in tend to you was so freaking cute. It was like a scene from a movie. All you had to do was add a little music and make him walk in slow motion then it would be as good as a movie.
Carried? Probed Aston!!! What the hell was she saying? And did the say Romantic? Was I hearing wrong because she was talking so fast or were they different meanings for the words she was uttering?
Her voice like a bubbling brook, full of excitement. She settled into the chair beside my bed, her eyes fixed on me withAll content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“But are you okay though? From what I heard, he was worried s something had to be wrong with you and you’ve been asleep from more than eight hours. People are starting to get worried. The Alpha has sent me to check you like a million times already and seeing him so restless is just the cutest thing ever, I just want to screamn!”
I hoped she wouldn’t scream because my head was hurting really bad, I didn’t want to add any noise to it.
Her words seemed to be settling in and dawning on me, my eyes snapped open like a trap, shock and embarrassment flooding through me like a raging river.
“What? No, that can’t be true!” I sat up, my heart racing like a horse, my words sounded moike a howl. I felt my face flush like a ripe tomato, my embarrassment turning into a full-blown blush.
I hated being the centre of attention, especially at the palace but I could not deny the fact that I felt butterflies in roy belly.
Aston carried me here?” I asked as if I didn’t hear her the first time.
She nodded, her grin mischievous, her eyes sparkling like diamonds.
“You know, I find that hard to believe.” I said pretending like it was the first time that he was going to carry me.
“I’m afraid it’s true. Kira. You’re not exactly the low-key person you thought you were anymore.” She said, her voice like a gentle tease. She reached out, her hand brushing against mine, her touch like a soothing balm.
1 felt my face grow hotter, my embarrassment reaching new heights. “Oh no, this is so humiliating…” I buried my face in my hands, my voice m**ed, my words like a sofi moan. I couldn’t believe this was happening, Me, Kira, the **e who always kept to herself, was now the centre of attention.
When I looked back at it, I was kind of always the centre of attention. From the moment I stepped foot in the palace, I had been the talk of it. I was about to probe her for more information when the door creaked open, and Aston himself walked in, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my heart race like a runaway carriage. 1 felt shy and dumb underneath his gaze, my embarrassment reaching new heights. He strode across the room, his footsteps echoing off the walls, his presence almost intimidating.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to sound casual despite my racing heart, my words barely above a whisper. I felt my heart flutter like a bird, my pulse pounding in my veins.
Aston raised an eyebrow, his eyes crinkling at the corners, his gaze sharp like they could pierce through me.
“I brought you here, Kira. You were burning up with fever. Why didn’t you take any medicine to hold it back? Were you planning to kill yourself?” he asked, his voice annoyed and worrier at the same time.
He settled into the chair beside the bed, his eyes fixed on me with concern. The maid was long gone, she left quite unceremoniously unlike the way she came in.
I shook my head, feeling the intense need to defend myself, my words like a sharp retort.
“I was too tired, Aston. I almost drowned, remember?” I said, my voice betraying the slight annoyance that I felt towards his Accusations. None of this would have happened it his mate had tried to drown me. I don’t know how that made me feel
I couldn’t decide between angry and grateful.
Aston chuckled, his eyes glistening, his voice calmer than I ever thought he was capable of
“Ironic, isn’t it? I’m saving you again, when it’s not supposed to be that way at all.” He said, his voice was so calm, it was hard to believe that he was the one speaking.
I felt my heart flutter, my words were barely audible. “Thanks, Alton. For helping me out again.” I said, trying my best to hide the blush that was creeping up my face.
The silence was tense. It felt like I couldn’t breathe and just when I finally had something to say, Brax stepped into the room. his eyes fixed on Aston with a curious expression, his presence familiar and reassuring I was excited to see him but the look on his face was quite unreadable.
