Chapter 127

I walked into my room, my mind still try to comprehend the message Mara had sent me. What could she have done to deserve the kind of punishment Brax gave her or was she just exaggerating again?

I knew that Brax and Mara never really saw eye to eye and they were always at each other’s throats but I really didn’t it to get to this extent. Even if Mara was being Mara. I expected Brax to at least try to behave rationally or was this just a plot by the two of them to get me back to the house so they could both have who they wanted to themselves?

expect

I thought about it for a while, Brax and Mara could never work together. They could never and as it was now, Brax had kicked Mara out of the house, meaning that I had to step in before I lost my chance with Mara. She was the reasonable decision.

And I needed to go get her. Even though all I wanted to do was stay back here and use ten hours to try to figure out what we were going to eat and end up just ordering takeout because one of us was horrible at cooking and one of us didn’t know how

To cook.

Life inside the palace had made me forgotten all about the joy in simple things and who knew just cohabiting without guard following you around would feel so nice? Who knew falling asleep on the couch watching TV was a luxury that I could enjoy?

I wore whatever clothes I wanted now and even though I came here with a plan, I had gotten so relaxed that it was hard to get mad at myself for not sticking to the plan. There was no way anyone could have stuck to the plan so strictly. If I do it then no one else could, the task was nearly impossible. Kira was like some sort of siren, all she had to do was look at me couldn’t and I was bending to her freaking will. It was time snap out of it and get my head back in the game.

I stood up, my mind made up. I was going to head back home, despite the uncertainty that waited for me, I knew that Mara was the more realistic option, with her family’s influence and power, I would be unstoppable.

I made my way to the Kira’s room, my heart a little heavy but I didn’t have time for exaggerated sappy feelings.

As I opened the door to her room, I saw Kira sitting on the bed, her eyes fixed on me. “Hey,” she said, a small smile on her face.

“Hey,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at her, really looked at her. She was beautiful, inside and out, and I knew that I would miss this.

We sat down next to each other, the silence between us as thick as her thighs. I wanted to tell her that it was time for us to leave but all I could do was stare at her.

“You need to pack your belongings and everything you know we came with and can’t leave here and you need to pack them fast, we’re leaving pretty soon.” I said trying to sound cold so I wouldn’t have to explain other feelings

Kira’s eyes widened in confusion, her brow furrowed in concern “What’s going on?” she asked, her voice laced with panic. “You’re not intending to spend more days here anymore? Why are you leaving so early? Is something wrong? Is something wrong with Brax? Is he hurt?”

She fired off question after question, her words tumbling out in a rush.

“Weren’t you the one that didn’t want to come here in the first place? Why are you asking me so much questions? Aren’t you happy to be leaving? Or were you hoping for something to happen?” I was. I was hoping that we would have sex?”

She made a face to wave me off.

“I didn’t think so I said, “Nothing’s wrong with Brax. He’s fine. This has nothing to do with him.”

But Kira’s expression only grew more frantic. “Then why are you leaving?” she demanded. “You were supposed to stay for a few more days. What’s changed? Did I do something wrong?”

I shook my head, feeling a pang of guilt. “No, Kira, it’s not you. It’s just…complicated. I need to go back home and sort some things out”

Kira’s eyes narrowed. “Sort what things out?” she pressed. “You’re not making any sense. Is it something to do with Mara?”

1 hesitated, But Kira’s persistence wore me down, and I knew I had to tell her something. Anything. Not that I owed her any explanation, I just wanted to give her one for the sake of whatever it is we had managed to establish here

“Look, Kira, I promise I’ll explain everything later,” I said. “But for now, I just need to go. understand.”

“Why can’t you tell me now?” Kira asked, her voice barely above a whisper. “Why do we have to leave without you explaining?”

“I don’t owe you any explanations, Kira but if you must know, we’re going because my mate needs my attention and I need to be there so if you don’t mind, do what I asked you to do and stop being such a pain in my f***g a**”

Kira nodded, the small smile on her face fading into non existence. I watched her expression morph from curious to slightly annoyed. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

I felt a twinge of annoyance at Kira’s initial question, “Is something wrong with Braxton?” It was the first thing she had asked, and it made me feel a pang of jealousy. But I tried to push it aside, reminding myself that I had no right to be jealous. I wasn’t dating Kira, and I had no daim on her the same way she had no claim on me.

Hook a deep breath and tried to focus on the task at hand. “Pack your bags, Kira,” I said, trying to sound calm and detached. “We’re leaving tomorrow morning.”

Kira nodded and started to gather her belongings.

As we locked up the house and covered the furniture, I couldn’t help but feel a little reluctant to leave. This had been a place of refuge, a place where I could escape the pressures of royal life. But now, it was time to return to reality. I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the feeling of unease that had been growing inside me knowing that I didn’t achieve what I had come here to do, I had come here to get Kira out of my head but I was sure as hell that the stay here just strengthened the bond between us. And now, I had more than my sexual tension to deal with, I now had conversations with the maid and missed her when she was not around.

I ordered Kira to do most of the work, trying to reinstate the dynamic of boss and se***nt that we had before. I could not afford to return to the palace acting the way we were now, it would do me absolutely no good.

But Kira didn’t fully understand that yet, and I could see the confusion in her eyes. She looked at me with a mixture of curiosity and frustration, but she didn’t say anything. She just nodded and continued with the tasks I had assigned to her. She was going to get used to it pretty soon

I originally did most of the work, packing our bags and making sure everything was in order. But as we left, I handed her the reins, letting her take charge.

I watched as she packed the bags into the trunk of the car and I took the key from her because I didn’t trust her not to ram us into a big tree because she was mad at me for ordering her around, I couldn’t take such chances.

We didn’t spend much time on the road before we saw it – the palace, in all its glory. But something was off. The gates were opent, and the guards were nowhere to be found. I felt a sense of shock wash over me as I realized that something was terribly wrong

As we stepped out of the carriage, I felt a sense of dread wash over me. The palace was in disarray, furniture overturned, and windows shattered. It looked like a war zone.

“What in the world. Kira trailed off, her eyes wide with fear. She looked at me, expecting me to have some answers, but I didn’t. I was just as shocked and confused as she was.

I didn’t answer, my mind racing. I had a long list of people who could have actually done this. A really long list of people who would have wanted to set my palace on ***ng fire.
