Chapter 15 Were You Caring about Me
Chapter 15 Were You Caring about Me
Chaim took a few steps toward the door, then he paused. “Whether it is at work or at home, don’t turn the air-conditioner down so low.”
“Are you caring about me?” Alexia laced her fingers together, looking at him expectantly.
Chaim lowered his eyelids. His bangs covered half of his face, making it difficult for Alexia to read his expression.
“If you want to think so, you can think so. In short, you’d better not get ill in the next two months!”
If she got sick, her cell activity would decrease, which might make Evelyn’s surgery fail. He wouldn’t allow this to happen.
“Why over the next two months?” Alexia asked in confusion.
Although she was happy about his concern, she wasn’t stupid. She could tell something was off by the way he was speaking.
“It’s nothing, just remember what I said.” Chaim coldly added before leaving, “In the future, don’t look at me in the eye while speaking. I don’t like it!”
Her eyes were so clear he still could not ask her to agree to the bone marrow donation.
Alexia gently closed the door and leaned against it sadly. But after a while, she couldn’t stop but smile.
He was caring about her. Although she didn’t know how genuine his care was, she was still thrilled!
Alexia patted her cheek before adjusting the temperature higher. Then she grabbed out a piece of white paper and wrote a review.
Someone knocked on the door when she was halfway through.
“Please come in.” Alexia stopped writing and looked up.
Lynn opened the door and smiled as she asked, “Did you miss me?”
“Why are you here?” Alexia stood up in surprise and went to grab a glass of water for her.
“I’ve done my work.” Lynn said, taking a drink. “I’ve also come to ask you some questions so the others will stop bothering me.”
“The others?”
“The romantic secretaries. They’re making me ask you why Mr. Lancaster was out of the office until noon.” Lynn curled her lips.
Alexia’s palms began to sweat. “Did they bully you?”
Since Alexia became Chaim’s secretary, she wasn’t the only one excluded by the other secretaries, but being ridiculed by previous colleagues overtly or obscurely wasn’t too bad because she moved to the top floor, and they couldn’t do anything to her. Lynn, however, was a perfect target to bully. “They didn’t.” Lynn waved her hand casually. “Our department has a new manager. They don’t dare to cause trouble now. The most they do is gossip, but I also strike back. Don’t worry about me.” Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“That’s good.” Alexia breathed a sigh of relief.
“Huh?” Lynn glanced at the paper on Alexia’s desk. “What are you writing?”
“Nothing.” Alexia hurriedly covered the paper with her hands.
Lynn squinted at her. “Why are you hiding it if it’s nothing? Let me see.”
“No!”
Lynn suddenly pulled the paper, “Review?”
Alexia rubbed her neck awkwardly.
“What the hell is going on, why are you writing a review?”
“Eh, something happened…”
Lynn had discovered it, and Alexia couldn’t conceal it any longer.
Lynn looked at her with admiration and gave her a thumbs up. “You are so amazing. Not only daring to sleep at work as soon as you become the president’s secretary, but being caught by Mr. Lancaster on the spot. You are so lucky that he didn’t fire you. Well, I guess you should finish this soon. I’m going to head downstairs.”
Lynn was afraid they would catch her after talking with Alexia for such a long time. Returning the review to Alexia, she left quickly.
Alexia sighed, smoothed out the wrinkles on the review and continued to write.
After finishing, she read it one last time and headed for Chaim’s office.
“Mr. Lancaster, my review is finished.” Alexia stood in front of the man’s desk, presenting the review with both hands.
“Put it on the desk.” Chaim didn’t look up at her, continuing to read the documents before him.
Alexia put down the review, then took a step back and stared at him.
He only wore a black shirt with the top two buttons unbuttoned, no tie, and his sleeves rolled up, revealing a swath of bronze chest and two powerful forearms, giving women more than enough to feed
their fantasies.
The perfect man exuding hormones before her was her husband, who she’d been married to for three years, and even still she felt a little unreal.
Alexia’s fiery look finally caught Chaim’s attention. He looked up to meet a silly smile.
“Why are you still standing here?”
Why did she still disgust him, and how come that hadn’t changed in the three years since their marriage?
Hearing Chaim’s impatient voice, Alexia quickly changed her expression. “Sorry, I’ll go back to my office.”
She turned and headed toward the door.
“Wait!”
Alexia turned in confusion, “Is there anything else, Mr. Lancaster?”
Chaim lowered his eyelids and mumbled. “In a few days, you’ll come to the hospital with me again for a checkup.”
