Chapter 56
Chapter 56
56 Unspoken Harmonies
Maxwell had crafted two new songs for his upcoming concert, dedicated to Emma’s freedom from her
tumultuous marriage. When Tom reviewed the lyrics, he expressed concern.
“These songs celebrate Emma’s divorce, but the lyrics are quite direct. Referring to her ex–husband as
a ‘beast‘ seems excessive, don’t you think?” Tom questioned cautiously.
Maxwell, unfazed, replied firmly, “I’m making a point. If you’re on my side, don’t question it. These
songs are meant to make a statement. Keep your doubts to yourself.”
Tom knew arguing with Maxwell was futile. Maxwell’s determination often bordered on
stubbornness, and the controversial lyrics worried him. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“What’s your plan for the music? Are you going to compose it yourself or involve someone else?”
Maxwell revealed, “I want Emma to compose the music. Her previous compositions were impressive,
so she’s the right choice for these. Any problem with that?”
Tom was taken aback. Having Emma compose music for songs with such pointed lyrics seemed like an
unnecessarily harsh approach.
Two days later, Emma called Tom, perplexed by the lyrics.
“Are you sure Maxwell doesn’t want to change these lyrics? They’re quite bold considering our past,”
Emma said, struggling to reconcile the idea of composing music for such content.
Tom, uneasy about the lyrics‘ implications, replied, “If you can convince Maxwell to reconsider, I’d
appreciate it. He won’t listen to me. It might be best coming from you.
Emma sighed, recognizing the challenge but ultimately deciding to proceed with the compositions. If it
helped Maxwell release his pent–up anger and move forward, she was willing to contribute.
The composing process was swift, with Emma dedicating two days to perfect the melodies,
Jada found humor in the situation, “I can’t believe Maxwell has you doing this! It’s quite the twist, isn’t
it?”
Bonnie, unaware of the lyrics‘ details, expected the concert to be anything but ordinary, knowing
Maxwell’s penchant for the dramatic.
“Have you considered talking him out of it?” Jada prodded.
“If I thought it would help, I would,” Emma replied, “but honestly, the lyrics aren’t far from the truth.
The conversation soon turned to an upcoming party hosted by Viola and Desmond, two of Emma’s
childhood friends. Viola and Desmond, twins, had left abruptly years ago, and their return was creating
a buzz.
Jada was excited about their return, “They left without saying goodbye, and now they’re coming back.

When do they arrive? We should meet them at the airport!”
Desmond, in particular, had harbored secret feelings for Emma, and his decision to study abroad was
partly an attempt to distance himself from his unrequited love. Now, with Emma’s divorce, Desmond
might see a new opportunity.
Jada playfully hinted at Desmond’s past crush, which Emma quickly brushed off, not wanting to
complicate their friendship.
With her business commitments and the responsibility of her family’s legacy, Emma knew romance was
a luxury she couldn’t afford. Jada and Bonnie acknowledged this, understanding that for Emma,
stability was paramount.
