"To get this deal I have to be viewed as a responsible and dedicated man." Sydney starts his explanation. I take a sip of water and lean against the table to concentrate on him.
"I was out of options and that night I decided to get loose and just get drunk." Sydney runs a hand down his face. "When I saw you I felt this strong attraction towards you and thought how sexy and confident you were. And beautiful too." He says this in a low voice with a mesmerizing smile. I never saw him with a real smile but he looked so perfect with it.
"So this plan came all of a sudden. At first it was only casual flirting but then the thought came. I would take you home, f*ck you, get you pregnant. You would be my surrogate and maybe I'd pay you to act as my wife for a year."
I stand abruptly scraping the chair causing everyone to look at us again. I couldn't handle this. This beast took my virginity and knocked me up because of some sick plan? I almost reach for my purse but remember that the sick bastard never let me take anything. I turn on my heels and leave the expensive hotel. The truth always hurts and I am going to do what I always do, run away from it.
I want to order a cab but I have nothing on me. Great. I'll just walk for about an hour. I hear Sydney's voice behind me shouting my name but I try to ignore him. My left arm is suddenly yanked causing me to yelp as I turn to Sydney. "Are you expecting my baby Isabella?"
Yes but my baby can't have a daddy like you. He only wants it for his business. He doesn't care about us. How can a heartless person want a baby? I know if I say yes, he'll fight with everything he has for it and pay some woman to act as its mother and his wife. The need to protect my baby kicks in and I look him in the eye. "No. Its mine and Harry's. I'm only nine weeks long." I add.
Disappointment is seen clearly on Sydney's face and the tiniest bit of my heart feels sorry for him but my hatred for him surpasses it. "Looks like your plan worked. Just not with me." I refer to
Bianca. "What's wrong with you? You already have a pregnant fiance who loves you but your still on my back?" Sydney only lets out a long breath.
"I know. And I'm having doubts about it." I raise an eyebrow at this. Sydney suddenly looks tired and my heart for an unknown reason crumbles at this. I say nothing even though I'm dying full of questions. Since I started working at the company I've been trying to exercise self-control and it looks like I'm getting the hang of it.
Sydney drives me back to work and no single word passes between us. I'm still so mad at him for this stupid plan. He planned to make me a surrogate? Without my permission? How sick is he? He has this large ego that he's so sure I would go back to him when I'm pregnant. He seemed too sure I would go back to him. Stupid stupid stupid arrogant man.
Working with all these thoughts make it difficult and I'm tempted to go home but thinking that the cause is Sydney, I work with determination to forget him.
I receive a phone call from Harry reminding me of the dinner we had and I gather my stuff. We decided to meet at our favorite diner in half an hour. I had carried my change of clothes. A light blue summer dress and a matching cardigan with brown wedges.
Thirty minutes later I find Harry in the diner alone drinking something clear which I assume is water. "How's my most favorite human being?" I hug him when I reach where he's sitting.
He hugs me back and gives me a kiss on my forehead. "You can now order something as we wait for someone. You said you want pasta?" Harry says and he seems so nervous. I take his hand in mine. "Harry. What's wrong?"
Harry looks at me. "I met this girl. A year ago." I feel a smile form but I try to suppress it. I give him an encouraging nod to go on. "Amelia. She's Canadian and a year younger than us. We were
friends when I was in one of my travels in Canada and we hooked up a few times. I like her and she got this job at a printing press so she moved here and got in touch." Harry says all this in a breath.
I laugh and he glares at me. "That's why you've been acting so secretive and on edge?" I would never have thought Harry liked a girl and never told me. I somehow felt bad. I thought he trusted me and told me everything like did to him. Well not everything but like 99% of my stuff. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"So you got a twenty one year old girlfriend who's already working? You never told me anything Harry."
Harry looks guilty. "You had so much going on and I know that's not an excuse but I really didn't know how to tell you. And she's not my girlfriend... yet." I nod at his explanation. I would have done the same too I guess.
"So when do I meet her? Tell me about her. Is she taller than me?" Harry once had a girlfriend who's taller than me and used to make me feel bad about my height. She made me feel insecure about my height since I was still a growing teenager. Harry found out and after a warning, she never stopped and Harry ended things between them.
"Dating someone shorter than you will feel like dating a baby." Harry teases me as he laughs while I glare at him. I'm five foot four but I could never be less proud of my height. Short girls rock! "Amelia should be here in ten minutes. I had to talk to you first. If you don't like her just tell me. Okay?" Harry seems to like Amelia a lot and I'd really try to get along with her. "I will." I give him a small smile and starts telling me about her.
Ten minutes later Harry's phone flashes and he reads a message. A contagious smile appears on his face making me to smile too. Looks like he really likes her. He excuses himself and goes to get her. I expect a blonde lady with him but I see a smiling girl with fiery red hair and has dimples on both cheeks that make me want to poke them. She's like a couple of inches taller than me with some blue jeans and a black tank top. She's so beautiful. Wow.
"Hi I'm Amelia. Nice to meet you Isabella." Her voice is so soothing too. "Bella. Call me Bella. I love your dimples." I blurt out. What? Harry laughs and Amelia joins in. They both sit and we order our dinner.
Amelia is so funny and has a great sense of humor. I truly feel good that Harry found her. She seems sweet but also devious according to what she tells me about her pranks and college life.
I think about Sydney and what he confessed. I haven't told Harry about it but this night is about him and Amelia. I'll tell him tomorrow.
