Alpha Kilian glanced up at him, his eyes narrowing at the mention of that topic. He could sense something was off.
Fabian immediately recognized this and knew that he had hit a nerve. He shook his head, trying to defuse the tension.
“No,” Fabian replied. “Ms. Jackson was single during her time abroad.”
Alpha Kilian’s mood seemed to lighten slightly at this information. He arched his brows nonchalantly, a smirk playing on his lips. “Well, I suppose it’s no surprise. She doesn’t exactly catch the eye.”
Fabian was taken aback, unsure of how to respond. Was this what people meant by taking things for granted? Or did Alpha Kilian have some kind of misconception about beauty standards?
“Alpha Morris, you’re being too harsh,” Fabian said, trying to reason with him. “Just because Ms. Jackson was single abroad doesn’t mean she won’t have suitors here. Besides, she’s quite popular among her male colleagues at Prosper Technologies.”
But Alpha Kilian dismissed her colleagues with a wave of his hand. “Do you think she’s actually interested in them?”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“There’s no telling,” Fabian replied. “Ms. Jackson has unique tastes, and she’s wealthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if she finds someone who fits her preferences.”
The mention of finding someone seemed to trigger frustration in Alpha Kilian’s mind. He questioned sternly, his voice laced with annoyance, “Don’t you have something better to do?”
Startled, Fabian looked up at Alpha Kilian’s gloomy expression. Why was he getting angry again?
“Ah, yes. I do have something else to attend to,” Fabian hurriedly replied.
“Then why are you still standing here?” Alpha Kilian snapped.
Fabian quickly made his exit, stepping outside to catch his breath. Dealing with temperamental people was more challenging than he had anticipated.
Later that afternoon, Nelly received a package. It was a new phone.
As Nelly opened the package, Ross passed by, holding a glass of water. Curiosity got the better of him as he approached her. “Has your new phone arrived?”
“Yeah,” Nelly answered nonchalantly, not bothering to look up.
“What brand is it? I’ve never seen one like it before. It looks pretty impressive,” Ross inquired.
“It’s a custom-made phone. Doesn’t belong to any specific brand,” Nelly replied, still engrossed in her new gadget.
Ross’ interest piqued. “We can customize phones now?”
Nelly didn’t bother to explain to someone like Ross. She took out a card and prepared to insert it into the phone. But before she could, Ross picked it up and played with it. “How much did it cost? Maybe I should get a custom-made phone too. Stand out from the crowd, you know?”
“It cost over two hundred thousand,” Nelly replied casually.
Feeling the weight of the phone in his hand, Ross quickly put it down, afraid of accidentally dropping it. “Why do you need such a special phone, Ms. Jackson?”
Nelly looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Do you want one too? I can order it for you.”
“No, no. It’s fine,” Ross replied, touching his pocket. “I’m not that rich yet.”
Without saying another word, Nelly inserted the card into the phone.
But Ross couldn’t contain his curiosity. He had to ask, “Ms. Wealthy, can I ask you something? Is there any special reason you use a custom-made phone? Or is it just a way for rich people to flaunt their wealth and status?”
Nelly gave him a look and calmly replied, “I have money to burn.”
“Oh, I see,” Ross nodded, as if he understood that wealthy people had their own unique quirks and hobbies.
As Nelly began setting up her new phone, Ross watched, intrigued by the process.
Not wanting to be alone, Nelly teasingly asked, “Do you want to play with the phone?”
Ross quickly shook his head. “Forget it. I can’t afford to drop it.”
Nelly immediately put her phone away.
Ross glanced at her and suddenly asked, “The person who gave you a ride today, is he interested in you? Ms. Jackson, you’re wealthy, but you should keep a low profile. He might feel insecure or think he’s not good enough for you.”
Pondering for a moment, Nelly replied, “I’m rich enough to support him.”
“You’re something else,” Ross muttered as he walked away with his glass of water. Part of him wanted to experience the hobbies of the wealthy.
Looking at Ross’ dejected expression, Tommy asked, “What’s wrong with you?”
Ross glanced back at Nelly and muttered, “Nothing. I just had a sudden thought of finding a rich woman.”
After work, Nelly went home. She found herself alone on the couch, resting, until Alpha Wade entered the house. “Grandpa, where are the kids?”
Alpha Wade glanced at her with a sly smile. “Someone will bring them home later.”
“Who?” Nelly inquired.
“You’ll find out soon,” Alpha Wade replied, heading straight to the kitchen.
Feeling uneasy, Nelly pulled out her phone and sent a text to Donna: Who’s bringing you guys home?
But she didn’t receive a reply for what felt like an eternity.
Just as Nelly’s anxiety began to rise, her phone rang. She quickly picked it up, hoping for a message from Donna.
It was from an unknown number: Have you received the phone?
Nelly hesitated before replying: Yes, I’ve received it.
The other person texted back: Okay. Let me know if there are any issues.
Nelly quickly replied: If you try to track me again, don’t blame me for what happens next.
The other person responded: I knew you’d figure it out.
Nelly sent one final warning: This is your last chance.
The other person replied: Fine. I promise it’s the end. It didn’t work out for me anyway.
Without another word, Nelly blocked the number.
Just then, the door was pushed open. “Nelly, we’re back!”
Tony and Ben entered the house first, followed by Zachary, who was carrying Donna in his arms.
Nelly was about to greet them when she saw Zachary. She froze, her eyes fixed on him.
After setting Donna down, Zachary locked gazes with Nelly. “Are you mad at me for showing up without notice?”
“Why are you here?” Nelly asked cautiously.
“I had some free time today. I went to school and decided to bring them home,” Zachary explained.
Alpha Wade came out of the kitchen and greeted Zachary. “Please come in, Alpha Lucas.”
Zachary turned to Nelly. “May I stay for a while?”
