Accidentally Married

Branch Seventy Seven

The rest of the party went by in a blur. Xavier Brian and Jason had not left the table they had been at all night. They sat down there going on and on about the business they were looking to establish.

Somehow to Jessica, it felt like he was just trying to avoid her because of their earlier reaction. Although Jessica had said she would get drunk she did not think it would be possible until the cup touched her mouth.

She drank until she could not stay upright anymore. She was slurring but she could not stop talking and drinking.

“Why did you drink so much?” Leslie said in a fake cry.

“Did I drink?” Jessica said in a series of stammers between her words.

“Yes you did”

“Oops,” She said and then ended her sentence with a giggle.

“What’s wrong you with?” Leslie asked confused. She pushed her head that kept going down. “Stay still,” she said removing the cup from her hand and putting it on the tray of the waiter that was passing by.

“Have someone clear this table please” she added and the waiter nodded and left.

“Okay ma’am” the waiter with a bow before walking away.

Leslie breathed out and then walked to the table where the three men were seated. She did not know why they had come all the way here and still decided to talk about all these business talks.

“Gentlemen,” she said pursing her lips together.

“Ohh Leslie so nice to see you again” Jason said as Leslie tapped the table to gain their attention.

“Darling you are…” Brian began to say but trailed off when he saw the mad expression on her face.

“If you had enjoyed the party maybe we would have seen hours earlier. Three hours to be precise” Leslie retorted.

“Well in my defense I wanted to enjoy the party but these men brought an offer I can resist”

Leslie’s mad expression found its way to Xavier and Brian. How dare they find a way to make this fun party about work?

“Mr. Delgado you need to take your wife home,” Leslie said her attention falling on him.

“Why? I am not ready to leave yet” he responded pulling out his phone from his pocket.

“She is drunk and I would like it for you to take her home before she makes a scene”

Xavier whips his head in Jessica’s direction and sees her saying something pointing to the table. What made her drink so much that she could get drunk?

“I would have the driver come help her to the car and take her home,” Xavier said tapping on his phone.

Leslie pulled out his phone from his hand and switched it off before dropping it back on the table.

“The driver? She is your wife and this is a public place. You should be the one to take her home” she explained gently like she was explaining to a middle grader.

“I don’t want to go yet” he murmured.

“I am sure you don’t want the Delgado name ruined,” Leslie said to which he nodded.

“Then I suggest you take her home now.

Xavier stood up reluctantly and walked slowly to the table. To be honest he knew Jessica was angry at him and that was part of the reason he stayed away all night. He did not want to worsen the situation.

Also, how was he supposed to handle a drunk person? He had never had to do something as such before. He had been drunk and he was taken care of by the bartender and the drivers. What should he do?

He sat in the chair beside Jessica and held her hand that was pointing to the table. She looked up angrily at the hand that held her finger. The expression on her face softened when she saw that it was him.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

“You,” she said with a hiccup. “You are my husband” she added with a toothy grin.

“Yes, I am” Xavier whispered.

“Come closer,” she told him.

He moved in closer to her and she beckoned on him to come closer with her hands. She cupped her mouth with her hands and put it close to his ears.

Her breath on his neck and ears sent shivers down his spine. He wanted to pull away but strangely he liked it.

“I met a mean jerk today,” she said in his ears thinking it was a whisper.

She pulled away and so did he. He started at her. He was the jerk she was talking about. How did she not know that?

“What do you want me to do?” he murmured.

“Good question” she said hiccups following each word.

He looked at her with such an attention and soft expression that it felt surreal. He was the culprit but if he could pretend to be the hero maybe he would feel better about what he had done to her all evening.

“Can you punish him? You should have such power since you are rich” she said and then covered her mouth.

“Oops so sorry for spilling your secret I should not have done that” she adds with a giggle.

What secret was she talking about? Xavier could not wrap his mind about what she was talking about but he could admit that she looked and acted cute while drunk.

“He did not compliment me all night even after I made up” she added with a frown.

Now that was a topic he so very wanted to escape. He wanted to compliment her but he was afraid of being called swallow. He was the one who put a thick line between them.

“Let’s go home, You can tell me all about it in the car,” Xavier said standing up and extending his hand to her.

“No I want to enjoy the party,” she said slapping his hand away from her face.

She stood up abruptly and began swaying to the music. Her dance moves were off-beat but she seemed to be having the time of her life since her eyes were closed.

Xavier became conscious when he noticed that almost all eyes were on her. He held her shoulder and her eyes jolted up. His hands slipped to her wrist and he pulled her closer. He smiled at her.

“Let’s go home”
