Accidentally Married

Branch Fifty Four

“I already did what you asked me to do. You asked for a wife and I gave one to you. I would do nothing further” Xavier said.

How could his grandfather suggest such a thing? Anger built in his mind towards Jessica and Genevieve. While Genevieve was the one who started the conversation, Jessica was quietly eating her meal. Was she also of the opinion that they should have a child?

“Jessica, do you agree with what he said?” Dawson asked angrily.

Jessica wished they would spare her from having to be a part of the conversation. What did they want her to say? Did she accept his terms? Yes, she did. Was she supposed to force him to give her a child?

She was sure he was silently marking down his calendar preparing for the day their divorce would be finalized and he can live a free man.

“If you both refuse to try for a child then I would leave the Braxton Industries to a management specialist and kick you both out of the house,” Dawson said aggressively banging his hand to the table before wheeling himself away.

Xavier stood up in an angry feat. His grandfather was playing a dirty game. The agreement had been that he got married for dull ownership of the company. He should have processed the papers for ownership transfer immediately, now it seemed his negligence was going to be his enemy.

Jessica silently went back to her meal. There was no reason to lose herself over the argument. She was going to leave the house eventually. What were some months earlier than scheduled?

“Are you not also angry?” Genevieve asked silently. She knew her comment had made them fight when such a lovely meal spread was before them.

“What can I do? Xavier doesn’t want a baby. I can’t force him to have one” Jessica said putting her spoon to her mouth and chewing silently.

Was she to explain to her that she and Xavier were going to be separated before the baby could be born into this world? If he was not going to take responsibility for the child why should she have him? She would then be ridiculed for a child she did not make all by herself.

Earlier the thought of getting into the same bed with Xavier to have s*x repulsed her but now she could consider the probability but for what reason? He was not going to acknowledge her in any way.

“Angel” Jessica called lowly but loud enough for the girl waiting on them to hear.

“Yes young lady,” Angel said coming close to stand beside her.

“I do not feel very well so I would be going in now to rest. Please clear the table and share the leftovers with the staff who are interested” Jessica said standing up.

“Are you leaving?” Genevieve asked. “Because of me?” she added.

Jessica had had a long day. She went from shopping to talking to her ex over the phone and then to making dinner. At the moment the conversation at the table earlier was not how she intended to end her day.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

“No not you, I am exhausted. I better get some rest”

Jessica entered the room to meet Xavier pacing the whole room floor. His eyes went up to meet hers as she entered. She lowered her head and entered the closet to change into her night dress.

“Is this a part of your plan? Did Leslie advise you to do this?” Xavier said.

Anger and frustration were evident in his voice. Jessica gulped hard to prevent herself from making any snarky comments back. It was obvious that he was pained. She would not be holding it against him in any way.

“Or did you and Papa talk about how to tie me down in this relationship? Do you no longer want a divorce after you have had a taste of this life?” Xavier went on.

Jessica bit down on her tongue. There was no way she was going to allow herself to lose control. She was exhausted and all she was going to do was just go to bed.

“Why aren’t you saying anything” he added banging the door of the closet. He did not want to enter because he did not know what she was doing. She could be naked or changing and he was not ready to see her like that.

Jessica held herself. It seemed like the devil was hell-bent on making her lose control that night.

“Did spending a whole lot of money on clothes and shoes make you want this life so badly? Was that the reason you made this plot?” Xavier continued.

“Are you that desperate to live a life that doesn’t belong to….” Xavier could barely finish the sentence when a slap resounded on his face.

Shocked he took two steps back. He had never been slapped before. He felt his ears ringing a particular tone. Jessica could not hold herself any longer.

“I would pay you back what I spent today. I don’t need your money nor do I need you. If I had known you were rich I would never have proposed marriage to you that day” Jessica said tears running down her face.

“Is a child a liability?” She screamed at him. “I don’t even want to have your baby either,” she said pulling her coat together. She picked up her phone from the bed stand and stormed out of the room.

There was no way she would stand there and allow him to have all the words. She climbed down to see that some of the staff were still loitering around.

“Can I be of service to you young lady?” one of the men asked bowing his head.

“I am fine. I just want to watch a little television before bed” Jessica responded sniffing.

She did not want to make it obvious that she was crying but her stuffy nose and leaking eyes could not keep a secret.

“Okay, I would be on standby if you need anything,” the man said.

“Don’t mind me and go to bed as you would usually do” Jessica said.

“I can’t do that,” the man said.

“I insist. I would only be out here a few minutes and then go back inside” Jessica lied.

She was going to sleep on the living room couch that night. When she saw his reluctance she added.

“I insist”
