Chapter 14 Forced to Confront
Xander wasn’t entirely clear about it either. He found it odd too, witnessing the two of them laughing and dining together. If he hadn’t coincidentally passed by that restaurant, he wouldn’t have noticed.
“Should we call Dr Russo and ask?” Xander suggested.
Elijah responded with a faint “Hmm.”
Xander went to make the call.
Twenty minutes later, Orion Russo arrived at the company. As soon as he walked in, Orion said, “I happened to have something to discuss with you…”
“Do you know Freya Stone?” Elijah interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. He raised an eyebrow.
Orion hesitated for a moment before nodding. “I know her. She’s my junior from medical school. She was the one who treated your injury last time.”
Elijah leaned back on the brown leather sofa, his eyes dark and his long, thick eyelashes twitching slightly. It was her?
That was unexpected.
“Oh, right.” Orion Russo came over and sat down. “Eli, can you treat her better?”
Elijah raised an eyebrow, adopting a casual and relaxed posture. Those who knew him understood that the more relaxed and casual he appeared, the more profound his thoughts.
Did Orion Russo and Freya Stone have such a good relationship?
For some inexplicable reason, he wasn’t too pleased, and he couldn’t understand why he felt this way. His voice was low. “Why are you speaking up for her? What’s your relationship with her?”
“We’re just senior and junior at the same medical university. She’s two years younger than me. I heard her dad has a mistress and treats her and her mom poorly. During school, she worked part-time to earn tuition fees. She’s a pitiful girl.” Orion spoke with the intention of defending Freya. He took this opportunity to speak up, hoping Elijah would spare Freya.
“So, I take care of her because of that, like good friends. Eli, for the sake of her being ill and needing a large sum of money for her mother’s treatment, forgive her once. Can you? She has no job, and life will be difficult for her.” Orion pleaded earnestly. “I don’t know why you’re upset with her, but can you give me face?”
Elijah’s face remained calm, but he felt something in his heart. Indeed, it sounded like her life was a bit miserable. However, this was definitely not the reason for him to forgive her.
Elijah’s posture became even more relaxed, lazier, and a hint of playfulness appeared in his words. “If you want me to forgive her, sure. Let her come and ask for my forgiveness herself.”
Orion could see that Elijah still hadn’t let go of his anger. He explained, “She’s desperate enough to come find me.”
Elijah snorted.
If that woman had no other options, why didn’t she come to him directly?
Elijah didn’t think she was in a dire situation yet.
“Eli…”
Orion wanted to continue speaking up for Freya, but Elijah was no longer interested in listening. “I’ve said it. Let her come and find me herself.”
His tone was clearly impatient.
Orion understood that further words were futile. “Well, don’t make it too difficult for her, considering she treated your injury.”
Elijah’s gaze turned slightly towards him. “Do you like her?”
Why would he speak up for her like this?
Were they so close?
Could it be that Orion was the man Freya Stone was involved with?
Orion hurriedly explained, “No, I like her. No, to be precise, I admire her. In school, many boys liked her, and many pursued her. She rejected them all. She’s very pure and a good girl. If I don’t have someone I like, maybe I would like her. Haha…”
Elijah shot a mocking glance at him, thinking, “Are you blind? In which eye did you see her being pure and innocent? Is a good girl the one who cuckolds her husband on the wedding night?”
Thinking of this, Elijah’s face darkened.
Orion didn’t notice his abnormality and sighed inwardly. He couldn’t do anything about it. Leaving the company, he stood at the door and called Freya.
…
After parting ways with Orion Russo, Freya Stone went to the hospital to visit her mother. On the way, she received a call from Orion.
He apologized, saying he couldn’t persuade Elijah Silverton.
Knowing Elijah’s temper, Freya said, “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
Ending the call, she cheered up and entered the inpatient department. As she walked in, a nurse saw her and said, “Your mom woke up.”
“Really?” Freya Stone was excited.
The nurse replied, “Yes, go and see her. I was just about to call you.”
“Thank you.”
Freya’s mother had been transferred to a regular ward. She pushed open the door and saw her mother opening her eyes. First, there was hesitation, then she walked over in big strides.
“Mom…” She wanted to smile at her mother, but she was too excited, and tears streamed down.
“Freya,” Elowen Stone weakly raised her hand.
Freya quickly reached out and held it. This was probably the most gratifying thing for her.
“I’m sorry, my girl…”
Elowen Stone knew how serious her illness was. Now that she was treated, it must mean that her daughter had agreed to Leo Stone’s request and married the young master of the Silverton family. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to come up with so much money for her treatment.

“Mom.” She tightly held her mother’s hand. “Without you, how could there be me?”
If her mother hadn’t suffered difficulties during her difficult birth, injuring her body and making her unable to have more children, she wouldn’t have been rejected by Leo Stone and forced to find another woman outside.
“Freya, are you living well in the Silverton family?” Elowen looked at her daughter, asking cautiously.
She was afraid that Freya would be looked down upon.
Freya forced a smile, reassuring her mother. “I’m fine. Grandfather and… Elijah, they’re all good to me. Don’t worry. Now you need to take care of yourself.”
She pretended to be cheerful.
Elowen responded with a sound, looking a bit tired. She needed to rest now. Freya stayed with her, and when Elowen fell asleep, she left the room.
Outside, the sky had already darkened. Although it was hot, she felt a bit cold. Freya knew there were some things and people she had to face, like Elijah.
She took out her phone, intending to contact him. Whatever punishment or criticism he had for her, she was ready to accept it. However, when she was about to make the call, she realized she didn’t have his phone number. She could only return to the villa.
But at the doorstep, she saw Elijah Silverton’s car.
He came to the villa?!
