Passion 108
Shannon hung up on Daphne before the latter could explain herself.
She clenched her fists in anger, That brat, Malcolm, must have tattled on her!
Thinking it over, she realized her fall had to be connected to those kids.
How could the kindergarten hallway have been that slippery? And how much of a coincidence was it that Malcolm and another kid had come by with a bucket of mop water just as she had fallen, resulting in it splashing all over her?
She hadn't expected to be outsmarted by a brat. The next time she saw Malcolm, she wouldn't let him off so easily.
Just as she was fuming, she received a call from Kelly. "We're in trouble, Daph. Your song 'A Sliver of Light' is being sued for plagiarism. It's all over the internet."
"I thought we resolved this," Daphne said, confused.
"Nothing's resolved. Check it out yourself. Your song is 99% identical to a song Ms. Cameron released four years ago, Kelly replied, sounding frantic.
"People are saying that you not only plagiarized but also abused your power to have her lawyer detained for a day.
"The chat records between our company and Ms. Cameron's studio have also been leaked. Everyone, thinks we stole the song because we couldn't buy it."
The barrage of bad news made Daphne's head spin. "I'll take a look at it," she said, forcing herself to stay calm.
When she checked social media on her phone, she saw that the plagiarism scandal was the highest
trending topic.
Before she could fully process it, she noticed that her latest tweet, "Innocence will prevail", was inundated with comments from fans and bystanders alike, all expressing their outrage.
'The tables have turned. Those fans who initially defended her, are you seeing this?"
"Innocence will prevail? Daphne, care to explain why a song released four years ago and your song are
99% similar?"
"This isn't just plagiarism. You're not even stealing parts of the song: you copy-pasted the entire thing!"
"The comment above mine is right! The only thing you did differently was add lyrics to it. I knew something was off with the lyrips-they didn't quite fit the melody. She's not even adding the lyrics right." Daphne read through the comments. She no longer dared to post anything on Twitter or respond to
anyone.
She called Kelly. "Get in touch with the PR team immediately.
Considering Daphne's relationship with Xavier, Kelly refrained from getting angry.
"Daph, if we had reached out to Ms. Cameron's studio for a settlement when we were first accused, we might have resolved this.
"But now... You were so adamant that you hadn't plagiarized and even posted that Tweet. It's no use even if we pay to have the trending topics removed.
"We only have two options now-either get Mr. Lane's help again or find Ms. Cameron and apologize to her personally."
Daphne frowned at that. How could she seek out Xavier when she had just offended Malcolm today?
She didn't want to risk erasing the last bit of positive emotions Xavier had toward her by repeatedly asking for his help.
The only option she had left was to find Cameron herself.
Cameron...
Daphne couldn't help but think of Yvette. Since Kiki was Cameron's lawyer, could Cameron be Yvette?
Surely that wasn't possible!
Daphne dismissed that thought. Cameron Wells was well-known abroad and had many fans. Meanwhile, Yvette had only been abroad for a few years; how could she have become a famous composer? Wasn't she supposed to be running a company with Claude's help?Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
aphne concluded that it must be a coincidence. She then turned to Laura and instructed, "Get me Ms. Cameron's contact number. I'll talk to her myself
