Chapter 102
Mia looked as pale as a sheet. She thought her previous experience was the nadir of embarrassment,
but boy, was she wrong now.
Tears welled up in her eyes. Seeing Samuel here, she felt utterly humiliated. Unable to control her
emotions, she bolted out of the room in tears.
Maja kept a poker face, watching Mia flee. Then, she lowered her head and switched off her phone.
Riding an elevator with these big shots, Maja was cool as a cucumber. She was well–prepared for the
negotiating with Samuel.
Samuel stood beside her, his tone gentle and his intentions clear.
“Penny, there’s a grand fireworks display in Greenfield tonight. We have a private box with the perfect
view.”
Maja gave a faint smile. Grand fireworks?
Indeed, Greenfield did have fireworks during the New Year’s celebration. The entire city would be
surrounded by fireworks, attracting people from other cities to watch. But at other times, she never
heard of any fireworks in Greenfield.
Offering roses, followed by fireworks, seemed to be Samuel’s go–to move to win a girl’s heart.
She chuckled, “Thanks but no thanks, Mr. Brown, I’d like to discuss matters related to Mr. Carnes‘
company. I’m curious about what special treatment you’ve given him.” Samuel didn’t get upset about
being turned down.
Smiling, he stood up as the elevator reached the top floor. The other three men were also getting off
here. Maja gave them a quick glance. But lan was the first to leave, guided by a waiter to a pre–booked
private room.
Maja was also led by a waiter to her room, which surprisingly was next to lan’s.
Stepping into the room, she saw roses strewn from the entrance to the dining table. She thought to
herself, “This is so cliché.”
Such a setup was hard to stomach. If it wasn’t for her eagerness to find out what it would take for
Samuel to allow the other renovation companies to work with her, she would never be here.
She managed to hold back her feelings, took a seat, and gave Samuel a smile. “Mr. Brown, you sure
know how to set the mood.”
This approach had worked for Samuel with many girls before. If he presented an expensive piece of
jewelry now, the girl would be over the moon, like she had met her Prince Charming.
So when he heard ‘Maja’s comment, he thought he had won her over already. He confidently walked
over and poured a glass of red wine for Maja.
“To win over a woman like you, I need to put in the effort.”
Maja didn’t take a sip. She knew all too well about Samuel’s tactics, and the fact that he was Daniel’s
son kept her on her toes.
“Mr. Brown, I’ve been working with Mr. Carnes for three years now. His sudden refusal caught me off
guard. I have wide connections in the renovation industry. I wonder what I did to offend you.”
Samuel calmly swirled the wine in his glass, and leaned back into the chair, a smirk playing at the
corner of his lips.
“I thought I made myself clear tonight.”
He took a sip of wine and set the glass on the table.
“Penny, you’ve slept with lan for sometime. Now that you’ve tasted him, aren’t you interested in trying
someone else? I mean, compared to him, I don’t fall short.”
He thought Maja would get angry at his words, but she didn’t. She remained composed.
“So, Mr. Brown, do you know why I could spend time in lan’s bed?”
The smile vanished from Samuel’s face, “What are you trying to say?”
“lan and I are married. If you don’t believe me, I can call lan’s father for confirmation. I believe you met
him when you were young, didn’t you? He once said you and Daniel learned some unsavory tactics
and seemed quite disappointed in you.”
Samuel froze, his expression constantly changing. After a while, he finally said, “You think I would
believe that?”
lan’s cold treatment towards Maja didn’t seem like they were married at all.
“I signed an agreement with Mr. Raymond to part ways amicably. Outside, we would act like strangers.
But Mr. Brown, your actions this time are indeed over the line. Since you’re using your wealth and
connections against me, I have no choice but to seek help from lan’s father.”
As she finished, she reached for her phone. But there was no way Samuel was going to let her make
that call. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Everyone knew about lan’s father’s reputation, and he had always disapproved of Daniel. Ian’s father
was a very influential figure in the business world. Daniel was only promoted by him and became a
leader in the renovation industry. But afterwards, lan’s father’s attitude towards Daniel changed and
they hadn’t seen each other for years.
